| That works fine if all you want to know is how much money went to "cash withdrawal". If you want finer granularity on where the money actually went once it was in your hands, then another solution is required. Same would apply to Q. | In Quicken you enter it as an ATM transaction in the transaction # box, and a cash withdrawal under category. Doesn't Money work the same? No need to cash accounts. | Many of us convert these to Transfers to a cash account setup just to track "out of pocket" cash expenses. In that account we enter as many or as few of the cash transactions, by hand--no downloaded data here--as suits our temperament and memory. Occasionally we write off the difference between the amount in the account and the amount of cash in our pockets as something like "Miscellaneous". See http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=93 for more details. Post back with questions. (Note this assumes you are using Money 2004 or earlier or 2005/6 with Advanced Register or 2007/+ Deluxe or higher, also with Advanced Register.) If you are using advanced register, you can expand the entries to> yet doesn't account for where it goes. Prior to Money Plus, I used an Excel > spreadsheet to track expenses. Change the Category to whatever is appropriate. If the cash is to be allocated to more than one use, select Split as the category, and then enter the pieces, each with their own category. You can get as detailed as you like, but you will still want a Misc category to handle part of the expense. There are alternatives. |

| How can I handle this - an ATM withdrawl shows that money has been removed, yet doesn't account for where it goes. Prior to Money Plus, I used an Excel spreadsheet to track expenses. In the spreadsheet format, I disregarded ATM transaction and opted to put my expenses into the spreadsheet. Now with Money Plus - it brings in my ATM withdrawls automatically. Any suggestions how do I override the ATM transactons so I can see the true expenses? Thanks, Jack |
