Essentials CANNOT open any non-Essentials pre-existing Money data file.

Use Money+ Deluxe. Copy the file over to the new machine. BE SURE and put it
in one of YOUR folders like My Documents. Then double click on it after
Money is installed.

Some far back level versions require and intermediate version upgrade. Don't
remember if this is before or after M02. We'll cross that bridge when you
get to it.

Uninstall that and download the Deluxe trial instead.

For *Money* info, all you would need is to install Money on he new
machine and copy over your *.mny file and maybe your latest *.mbf
file.

Be sure that your Money and backup files are moved to a spot that
you will have full privileges to, such as within the user's
Documents folder. If they are in ProgramFiles, Vista will create
an impermanent copy of the file for the user to use, unless the
user explicitly right-clicks at launch and choose
RunAsAdministrator that time.

Check that the SSL2 protocol is enabled. That checkbox is in IE
Tools-> InternetOptions-> Advanced.

Install Money from the Money Plus by browsing to the setup file.
Right-click that file, and choose RunAsAdministrator.

After install, right-click the Money icon and choose
RunAsAdministrator to let potential updates happen. Reboot the
computer. You should not have to run as Administrator normally.

Default New computer and moving from 2002 to new version

Hi All,

I bought a new computer and want to move my money files to the new computer.
Here is the situation:

1. Up until yesterday I have been using Money 2002 running on Windows XP/
2. I purchased a new computer with Vista that does not have Money on it
yet. I downloaded the trial version of Money Essentials, but that says I
cannot restore the backup from an older version.

So my questions...which is the best version to use, and how do I go about
getting all of my old information on the new computer?

Thanks,
Liz
