A joint account is often set up by the FI to download to both holders when they access their accounts. Often only one of participants wants to track that joint account in their Money file. 2. In "householding" some brokers allow people with the same address to combine accounts for purposes of meeting minimums or getting better commission rates. That same kind of thing can happen in that case. Having Money Plus not try to download into accounts marked Closed within Money helps those situations. |

It is not that uncommon for accounts that one closes at a bank to stay "active" in their servers for some period of time. The best way to handle this is to leave it "open" within Money for the time being. At some point in the future, the account will disappear from the bank's server and you'll start getting an error message after updating that the account can't be found. At that time, you should stop and re-start online services with that bank in Money. The "closed" account will then no longer be associated with your "online" accounts at that bank. Then it is safe to close the account within Money. Regards, JB |

| If you look at Account List (set to show closed accounts), Money often reports "download failed". So it "kind of" tries to download. Back to the previous issue in the thread: as long as Citibank shows that account, Money will see it. Only solution is to ask Citibank to delete the account from their website. Good luck with that..... -- Michael Gordon "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:3euvm31v078a1r1e15t6877832uj3fhi60[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, The Merg wrote: > Is there anyway to just delete that one account without it > > affecting the other Citibank accounts I have in Money. > Money Plus does not try to download from accounts marked Closed. | Okay thanks. I managed to delete the extra account right before I saw your post as I had disabled on-line services for that account. Along the same lines, I noticed for my Citibank services, there is a closed account that it tries to download transactions for. The closed account has no transactions in it though (it was an account number I had to close due to a fraudulent charge). Is there anyway to just delete that one account without it affecting the other Citibank accounts I have in Money. Thanks again, Merg -- Today's problems don't worry me, I haven't solved yesterday's yet. | I have no problem with going back to manually entering the transactions. Oppenheimer doesn't really provide any useful information with the downloads anyways (it just performs an "add shares" as opposed to buying shares, reinvesting dividends, etc.). However, when I try to delete the second Oppenheimer account, it wants to delete the primary account as well. I've combined the Investment 2 Dupe with the original Investment 2 in the original Oppenheimer account (gosh that's getting confusing) and then tried to delete the Oppenheimer 2 account with no success. - Merg -- Today's problems don't worry me, I haven't solved yesterday's yet. | I'm having two issues with Money 2007 Deluxe that are somewhat related. I have two investment funds at Oppenheimer and set up the on-line services for there. I had an account created in Money ("Oppenheimer") with the two investments ("Investment 1" and "Investment 2") added to that account. When I set up the on-line services, since Oppenheimer gives a unique account number for each investment, it created a second account in Money ("Oppenheimer 2") and recreated "Investment 2" in the new account. Since, the ticker symbol was already assigned to "Investment 2", it prompted me to remove it from there and add it to "Investment 2 Duplicate", so I said yes. I then tried to move the investment back to the original account and it seemed to work. However, when I went to delete the Oppeheimer 2 account, I get a dialog asking me if I want to close the account or delete it. The issue here is that it asks if I want to delete ALL of my Oppenheimer accounts and not just this one. Since this is for all purposes a dead account, I'd like to delete it instead of just closing it. I even looked at trying to merge these two accounts, but Money won't even give either one of them as a choice. Any ideas would be appreciated. On a side note, how do you remove the on-line information for an account once you set it up? A few accounts that I set up for on-line updates don't download the information the way I want it, so I'd rather make it just a "manual" account again. Thanks, Merg -- Today's problems don't worry me, I haven't solved yesterday's yet. |
