| Excellent! I hadn't realized that "Other Income" would then let me subcategorize it as a capital gain. Works like a charm. Thanks! | ETFs are a variety of closed-end mutual funds, which are really stocks. That's why most brokerage houses classify them as that -- if you come up with a transaction that's hard to enter, identify it as "other income" which will then give you the choice of a LT capital gain. -- Michael Gordon "RedDog" <RedDog[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:7229CD05-9137-4409-8F03-E9FBDF1088B0[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Thanks for the response Cal. | Thanks for the response Cal. Given that one of the "selling points" of upgrading to Money 2006 was the brand new "ETF Center", you'd think that by 2008 they would have introduced an ETF investment type in the portfolio! Ah well... so it goes! DJ "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, RedDog wrote: > > I have several ETF investments in my portfolio. Plus/2008 does allow you to switch those back and forth betweenthose, as long as you don't have transactions incompatible with the other type-- including the CG examples you gave. - quote - > Thanks for your help! > Reddog |

| I have several ETF investments in my portfolio. Unfortunately there is no "ETF" investment type in MSMoney 2007. Those of you who have ETF investments: do you label them as mutual funds or stocks? The trouble with labeling them as stocks is that long-term and short-term capital gains are not permitted investment activities - and some ETFs have these. Tracking them in Money as mutual funds caused some other grief, which I forget. So three questions for all you MSMoney investment wizards out there: Do you find it easier to track your ETF investments as stocks or mutual funds? Why? And is this addressed in the 2008 version of Money? Thanks for your help! Reddog |
