| Leah, Any luck? I have also had this problem for years - ever since Money was converted to the crazy .NET interface. (Same time they stupidly dropped the Mobile PocketPC interface.) I would drop Money and switch to another product but I have been using Money for 14+ years now and don't want to lose my database. I have to kill and restart Money on average of 3 times for every session. -Erik "Leah Etienne" wrote: - quote - > "Dominicus" wrote: > > I have WinXP and recently upgraded to Money Plus from Money 2005. > > > When I 'accept' an electronically downloaded transaction that happens to > > match a scheduled bill, and I confirm the match, Money Plus just hangs on the > > hourglass. > > > I'm able to click on the top-right close button, which quickly reports Money > > is not able to respond, an I have to kill the Money session. > > > When I reopen the file, I can briefly see a nondescrit pop-up box with a > > horizontal progress bar (autorecover process?) and I'm able to work on my > > file again. > > > The transaction is entered correctly and the bill is marked paid (i.e. shows > > listed for the next period in Bills). > > > IMO, this is the slowest, buggiest version of Money yet. > I can't say that this version is buggier than previous. I can't say that this version is buggier than previous. It's a little frustrating. I don't know if this bug is migrating from version to version and being ignored, or if its related to upgrading of older file formats. It really should be fixed. |

| Susan, Thank You much. After my post I read about the nuke-the-bills process. I used the method of setting up an extra computer running an un-nuked version of my Money file over a Remote Desktop connection. It took me about 30 mins to re-enter all the bills one-by-one...Aarrg. However: payback...my file now loads in just 10 seconds!!!!!! The old file loads in 40-45 seconds. Navigation has gotten much better, especially going into the Investing tab, but also how quickly it will allow me to trigger Online Updates. I will have to wait for coming days for downloaded transactions to be matched to the newly entered bills and really prove this has taken the main problem away. But for those who suffer from slowness, well this has improved it at least momentarily. The file size didn't go down as much (23 to 22 Mb). I believe Money has a self-compressing process that runs periodically, and may be forced-triggered as part of the Nuke-the-Bills process, so I suspect those individuals that see noticeable compression may be just experiencing fresh compression. I can see prior versions of my file (all before Nuke-the-Bills), with as much as 32Mb. I haven't used the Archiving feature since 2002 or so. | WinXP/Money 2005 upgrade to Money Plus describes my environment, and I had a similar problem. It occurred only upon downloading transactions. "Nuke the bills" fixed it. Make a copy of your data file, in case you get undesired results. You will have to enter your scheduled transactions again, but it should put an end to the freezing problem. | I have WinXP and recently upgraded to Money Plus from Money 2005. When I 'accept' an electronically downloaded transaction that happens to match a scheduled bill, and I confirm the match, Money Plus just hangs on the hourglass. I'm able to click on the top-right close button, which quickly reports Money is not able to respond, an I have to kill the Money session. When I reopen the file, I can briefly see a nondescrit pop-up box with a horizontal progress bar (autorecover process?) and I'm able to work on my file again. The transaction is entered correctly and the bill is marked paid (i.e. shows listed for the next period in Bills). IMO, this is the slowest, buggiest version of Money yet. |
