Let me try a description, and perhaps somebody with some experience
in this can improve the process description. This can serve to start
the discussion:

Make an extra copy/backup of your file in case you want to undo
something.

Make sure the exchange rate in Money is set to 0.429300 MTL per 1
euro.

One way would be for each account to be in euros, go to the Account
Settings, and change the AccountCurrency to Euro. What could be a
better way, at least for some accounts, such as bank or credit card
accounts, is to create a new euro account. Rename the MTL accounts,
and blank their account numbers first. Transfer the cash balance as
of 1/1/2008 to the new account. For investment accounts, I would
expect that changing the currency on the existing account would be
best.

Test the effects. Let us know how it works.

Default Euro changeover

In January our country is going to change from the Maltese Lira (MTL) to the
EUR.
I have got Money Standard. How can I convert my account balances to EUR
without disrupting my current (pre 2008) transactions?
