Uninstalling then reinstalling Money Plus seems to have solved the problem.

In IE7, start with
Tools-> InternetOptions-> Security-> LocalIntranet-> DefaultLevel
which may be sufficient.

If that does not let you get updated, and if you are using XP, I
would
try creating a new user with Administrator privilege. Switch to
that user and start Money with a new blank file with no LiveID.
Let Money download the updates as that user.

The theory is that if the problem is an IE setting, you will get
default settings for the new user. If you succeed this way, it
would accomplish the download, and it would point toward the reason
the other did not work. You can delete the new user later, and
your regular IE settings will not have been changed.

I have a similar problem. Every time Money Plus Deluxe starts, it says a software
update is required. If I click OK, Money closes and the update starts to run. It
doesn't complete. I get an error message that says "A software update is already in
progress. Please try again when the update is complete." Next time I start Money the
same update required message is displayed. Has been going on since I installed the
program. The version number is always 17.0.120.727.

I am running XP SP2, IE7. Previously I had Money 2006. I installed 2008 over the top
of it. I did not have the problem with Money 2006, only with 2008. The MS faq's don't
address my problem. Any ideas?

Every time Money Plus Deluxe starts, it says a software update is required.
If I click OK, Money closes and the update runs to 100% with no error
displayed. Next time I start Money the same update required message is
displayed. Has been going on for a couple of months. The version number is
always 17.0.120.727. Am running XP SP2, IE7, AOL version of McAfee. Have
tried turning off DEP, setting IE7 security to Default with medium security,
and doing the update with McAfee functions disabled, with no improvement.
Three questions:
1. Is 17.0.x.727 the current version?
2. Is there a place where I can find what the latest version should be?
3. Anyone know how to make the updating stop?
