| I agree with your concern. The QIF file however has duplicate entries as programs that use it, do not know if an entry is a duplicate entry or not. The OFX file is smarted and will do the skipping of transactions that have already been entered, so you are correct that the editing will possibly change something in the OFX file to make the file acceptable, however it would not be to remove duplicate entries. I do not know what the incompatibility is but hope that they will not upgrade anymore of the BoA sites until they fix it. | Until recently, while using bankofamerica.com (California) and Money 2004, I could download transactions and open them into Money using the active statement format (stmt.ofx). But something happened and now I receive "The file you attempted to import appears to be invalid or contains corrupt data" error dialog and advised to contact the financial institution. Just coincidently Bank of America recently made some changes to their website. About the some time I began getting the errors. But when I contact BofA, they infer that the problem is with Microsoft: to wit, their reply to my email concerning the problem: <quotePlease be advised that Microsoft has given us a date of November 15th to have the issue of downloading your account information using Active Statement resolved. In the meantime, please download your account information using the 4-digit QIF file and import the file into Microsoft Money. Please be aware that downloading your current statement using this method will duplicate transactions. To prevent transactions from being duplicated, please download a date range. We apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced due to this matter. <unquote TWO months to resolve this problem? Huh, who jerking who on this? MS vs BA? Instead of the "4-digit QIF File" work-around, How about a work-around to modify (edit) the ofX file, which would eliminate the problem with the duplicate entries? |
