| Thanks Cal for your help. I have resolved the problem, whatever it was, by doing a system restore to a restore point from 7AM this morning (actually yesterday morning now) and the money files open without any update messages now. Luckily I have my system automatically create a system restore point every morning at 7AM. In looking at the events of the day, I think that the install and then the uninstall of Walmart Music Download software somehow wiped out a register key related to Money that was making Money think it needed the update. All seems well now with Money. I'll post another update if I encounter this problem again. Thanks again for our help. Go to Help-> AboutMicrosoftMoney, and write down the Serial number.> Any other ideas? Go to http://support.microsoft.com/money and proceed from there. After clicking Money 2007, note the Contacts item which will lead you to "Contact a Support Professional by Email, Online, or Phone." Let us know how it works out. - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, STinGA wrote: > > > > Created a new administrative user, logged on to it, opened money and created > > > new blank file as you instructed. I don't know. It's simple tho: reboot while poking F8 until you get> new blank file as you instructed. Money never prompted about an update. > Money version is listed as 16.0.120.1303. So why do I have hope it will work? I suspect you may running some software firewall that is blocking something. Safe mode uses default minimal settings. That makes things slow, but you will not be starting things you are normally starting on boot. - quote - > What is causing this? Is the latest version 16.0.120.1303 ???
Yes. However there may be some other files such as ISP setup infothat it may want to download. |

| Created a new administrative user, logged on to it, opened money and created new blank file as you instructed. Money never prompted about an update. Money version is listed as 16.0.120.1303. Logged back on to normal administrative user and started money with original file. Prompted for update again. Clicked cancel. Checked version and it shows as 16.0.120.1303, which is the most current version as I understand it. Did online update of all of my accounts successfully. Clicked on File on menu bar and opened another one of my money files. It opened without getting the update message. Online updated the accounts in that file successfully. Closed Money. Opened Money application again and again received the message box that says "To continue operating successfully, Money requires a software update. Click OK to close Money and begin the update now. I haven't tried safe mode with networking as you also suggested, but do you think that would make any difference? What is causing this? Is the latest version 16.0.120.1303 ??? One thing to try is to create a new ser with Administrator> that your internet connection is up. Neither of those is a problem. I am > trying again for the 6th or 7th time. Gets to 99% and errors out?? privilege. Switch to that user and start Money with a new blank file. Select Decline during setup to not have a Live Id. Let Money download the updates as that user. The theory is that if the problem is an IE6 setting, you will get default settings for the new user. If you succeed this way, it would accomplish the download, and it would point toward the reason the other did not work. You can delete the new user later, and your regular IE settings will not have been changed. Alternately, try booting into Safe Mode with Networking and start Money. I don't know if that would work, but is simpler. - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, STinGA wrote: > > > > Tried it again and this time it got to 99% and did the same thing. > > > > > "STinGA" wrote: > > > > > > When I try to open my money 2007 deluxe file I am getting prompted for an > > > > update. | The actual message box is a Microsoft Money Update message box that says: Money was unable to install the update. It is strongly recommended that you install the update before you continue using Money. To try installing again, first make sure that your Internet connection is active and you have at least 100MB of free space on your hard drive. Then click OK, and restart Money. | XP SP2. The message says to check that you have at least 100mb of space and that your internet connection is up. Neither of those is a problem. I am trying again for the 6th or 7th time. Gets to 99% and errors out?? | When I try to open my money 2007 deluxe file I am getting prompted for an update. When I click on OK to start the update, Money closes and the update starts and gets to approximately 17% downloading and then stops and errors out. Have tried 3 times and every time it stalls and errors out. Anyone else having this issue? |
