Record an example in your register as you'd like it categorized.
Right-click it, pick Make Recurring. Adjust frequency and due date to
your liking.

Because utility bills are variable, pick 'Estimate because the amount
varies' from the drop down list.

For SS deposits, consider using 'Paycheck' as the category. If you do,
record the gross amount on the Wages tab, and Medicare insurance
premiums on the Deductions After Taxes tab.

I have no problem setting up payments to be made by check but have'nt figured
out how to set up pre-authorized utility payments and pension and social
security deposts
