| Alas, not much joy with UltraSoft's Money. It drops Umlauts and I have account-names, payees, descriptions, etc. which contain Umlauts. If I would sync that back to Money it probably would cause havoc... Any other possibility? Michael |

Thanks for the pointer. I surfed a bit more and - given that Money for> workaround posted there. I would point you directly but I can't get > to that URL right now! PocketPC is a dead end anyway (since MS dropped it) - decided to take the suggested "migration path" and had a peek at UltraSoft's Money. I installed it on the PPC and it seems to work without a problem so far. If that remains so for a week or so, then I'll certainly take that path... Michael |

| Hi all, I have Money 2005 running on my desktop. Since I am in Europe upgrading to newer versions doesn't really buy me much (updates have mainly to do with new US tax stuff that I don't care for anyway), so I am happy with my "old" version. Now, I just bought myself a Windows Mobile 6 device (HTC TyTN II) and apparently that does not cooperate with Money 2005. If I install the file "mnyppc05.exe" (which came with Money 2005) on the PDA, the installation works fine, and in the ActiveSync settings one can select the accounts that one wants to synchronize etc., but the actual synchronization then always stalls (i.e. it hangs forever - one has to kill and restart ActiveSync to get anything back going again). If I install "mnyppc06.exe" (that is the latest version that I found on the MS Money website) the installation claims that I don't have Money installed on my desktop ||-( and that I will not be able to synchronize. And indeed, it installs money on the PDA (which apparently works fine) but there isn't even a Money entry showing up in ActiveSync under the list of items that get synchronized with the PDA, so no sync either. I also tried a trick that I once found somewhere: I installed mnyppc06.exe to the PDA (to get money installed and running there). Then I started to install mnyppc05.exe on the desktop, which should give me the synchronization code plus the entry in ActiveSync but then aborted the installation on the PDA, i.e. refused to overwrite the PDA side of the code. That trick had worked with some older version (Money 2003 and PocketPC 2002 if I recall correct) but apparently doesn't work anymore here. So: how do I get a WM6 device talking to a Money 2005 on a WinXP desktop? Has someone managed to get that going? Michael |
