| Did you check that ofx file type is still registered to MS Money? If the problem started after installing MS Accounting, maybe the Accounting program took over ownership of that file type. | That actually may explain it. It is likely that the file extension for the direct import off of your bank's website is not .OFX But when you save it as .OFX, Windows now recognizes that extension. I'd almost be willing to bet that the bank is downloading it as a .QFX extension. Or the other possibility that comes to mind is that Windows is saving a temporary copy of the download for import and in the process of creating that temp copy is either changing the file extension or having a problem with the temp location itself. -Mark "zuhx" <zuhx[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:6709DF03-3FD1-4293-96EA-AC16D7C30775[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Yes, I did verify the mnyimprt.exe is correct in the registry. | Yes, I did verify the mnyimprt.exe is correct in the registry. I am getting the OFX file directly from the bank's site. If I save it locally to my machine and import it it works fine. The problem is when I try to import it directly into Money. Anything else that can be tried? | Where the OFX file is save in Temp could vary depending upon how you are getting it. I don't recall, did you verify that mnyimprt.exe is located in that spot referenced in the Registry? (You may have to modify Vista's folder options to show system files in order to Money's mnycorefiles folder). Oh, and are you getting the OFX file directly from your bank's website, or do you have Money set for "direct" OFX services? If you are getting the file from the bank's website, it may be that it doesn't have the correct extension (for example QFX instead of OFX). Instead of Opening it, try Saving it (to your Desktop) and make sure that the file name does end in an OFX extension and then try: 1. Double-clicking it to see if Money will start automatically and import it. -or- 2. Start Money and go to File - Import and Browse to the location of that file and import it that way. -Mark "zuhx" <zuhx[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:A2A545EB-D005-4E94-AD37-B83FCA787E19[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Thanks for the help. | Thanks for the help. I checked the registry and the entry for default under the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ofx.Document key is the same listed in your posted. I think the Vista is blocking the file for some reason. I tried to look in the Internet temporary files, but could not find the ofx file. | Reinstalling Money "should" have reset the file association. Try re-running setup "as Administrator" (right-click on Setup and choose to Run As Admin) If that fails to reset the association, verify what it says in the Registry. Note: be VERY careful about changing anything in Windows Registry 1. Run regedit 2. Navigate down to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ofx.Document 3. Expand that branch and verify that under Shell there is an Open item with a Command item under it. Click on the Command folder. 4. Verify that the Default "Data" value is "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2007\MNYCoreFiles\mnyimprt.exe" %1 This is of course assuming that Money 2007 was installed in that location. The problem may simply be that this reference is not properly pointing to the location of Money's mnyimprt.exe -Mark "zuhx" <zuhx[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:9F9F6DE9-9AA1-4BFE-9B88-9926AAACA7F7[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > I tried uninstalling and re-installing, but that did not fix it either. | I have Windows Vista. There does not seem to be an advanced option in Vista when associating an extension to a program. I also uninstalled and then reinstalled Money and that did not seem to work. This is for XP:Start-> Settings-> ControlPanel-> FolderOptions-> FileTypes Select OFX-- Open Financial Exchange File . Click Advanced. Check Confirm Open After Download unless you would not like the pop-up box. See that the "Actions" box contains "Open" in bold. If it is not bold, you can select Open as the default action by clicking the Set Default button. Click Edit. When you click edit, the application used to perform action should be similar to the following line: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2007\MNYCoreFiles\mnyimprt.exe" %1 WITH the quotes, and the %1 after the quote. The path will differ based on your installation. Modify for your setup. Application should be mnyimprt with the appropriate path. The easy way to fix this may be to reinstall Money. |

| Here's the fix. It worked for me after I uninstalled MS Office Accounting and found MS Money wasn't recognizing OFX files anymore. Resetting the file association for importing OFX or QIF statements If you need to reassign the OFX file extension to use Microsoft Money (for example, it was assigned to Quicken and then you uninstalled Quicken), then you can follow the procedure below to reset the association to what it was before Microsoft Money was installed. Go to Windows Explorer and follow the following steps. 1. Choose Tools, Folder Options, then File Types 2. Scroll down and find the OFX entry (if you're using OFX) 3. Select Advanced 4. Check the 'Confirm open after download' option. 5. Select the 'open' action 6. Press 'edit' 7. Check that "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2005\MNYCoreFiles\mnyimprt.exe" %1 is the application used and use DDE is checked. (See below for a screenshot of this window). If you have Money 2006, then change the 2005 to 2006. If you have a Money installed in a non-standard directory, then you will need to change the path to the 'mnyimprt.exe' program. | If your locale is not English (United States), try to change your locale temporarily to that one or the one that you think you bank institution would use. That fixed the import problem in my case. Seems to be a bug in 2007 version as 2004 version was importing them fine. Consider reinstalling MS Money 2007, but that may break MS Accounting.> message that > the file can not be found. | I know nothing about Microsoft Accounting and the file types it uses but you can see what program is registered for ofx files by checking the folder options under Windows explorer. You can even point it back to "Microsoft Money import handler" by clicking change.
