| in case 2, how do you change the account data so it reflects a change on the date you actually made the transaction? also, it seems like if you simply change the symbol, you're still going to have a different total # of shares, thereby resulting in an incorrect acct value. Case 1 would retain performance data to the date of the buys and> would be lost (case 1) or alterred (case 2). sells, and would start fresh the second time -- assuming you used the current prices as the sell and buy prices. Case 2 would keep the performance data continuous as if the account had not changed. - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, mlh4480 wrote: > > > > i recently performed an exchange of funds from my t rowe price account A to t > > > rowe price account B. i transfered all of the funds in account A and am > > > closing that. i would like to record this transaction in money of course, but > > > would like to keep the records of the gains i had with account A. i can't > > > seem to find a way to do this. i could transfer to a brand new account, but > > > currently, i have all my t rowe funds grouped under one large umbrella within > > > money. when i try to do a 'transfer out' from account A, i can only transfer > > > to the umbrella accounts, and even if i try to transfer to the general t rowe > > > price account, it says i cannot transfer within the same account. help! > > > There are two good ways: > > > 1. | i recently performed an exchange of funds from my t rowe price account A to t rowe price account B. i transfered all of the funds in account A and am closing that. i would like to record this transaction in money of course, but would like to keep the records of the gains i had with account A. i can't seem to find a way to do this. i could transfer to a brand new account, but currently, i have all my t rowe funds grouped under one large umbrella within money. when i try to do a 'transfer out' from account A, i can only transfer to the umbrella accounts, and even if i try to transfer to the general t rowe price account, it says i cannot transfer within the same account. help! |
