To merge or combine Money file, make a copy of the more complex
account using the operating system. Give that file a new name to
represent the shared accounts. Export each account that you want to
merge from the other file (the least complex). Use loose qif.

Import the files all at once into the now-shared account. Use
Cntl-click to select files for the single import.

When you import the files, Money will ask where they go. Use
descriptive names.

Dummy me.
I have backup files "My Money Backup-2007-07 . . . and "My Money
Backup-2007-11 . . . One contains the older files and one contains the newer
files. How do I get them to merge and should the account names be the same
for a successful merge to occur?

Sounds like you didn't upgrade the file you think you did. I'd go figure out
how to solve THAT problem first. I upgraded my old file and didn't miss a
transaction.

If you don't want the new information replaced during a restore,
restore to a different filename, rather than taking the default.

If you want to merge information, you would want to do QIF export
from the least-complex file, edit the QIF file(s) to remove any
duplicate info by looking at dates, and the File-> Import as
recovered accounts.

The list at the bottom of the File menu can be useful in switching
between files.

Keep an extra copy/backup in case you want to undo something.

Default If I restore an old Money file . . .

.. . . will it overwrite the post date of download information? When I went to
Money Plus I did not realize that it wasn't going to absorb my old money info
into the new file. IOW, currently Money Plus dated items only go back to the
date of download installation and has ignored the first 1/2 of the year's
entries. They are on a back-up file but will it erase the current info if
restored?
