Since export is primarily used for conversion, why would Microsoftwant to invest dollars in making it easier for you to abandon their product? -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL |

| Well, you might be able to cobble something up with Excel, MoneyLink and some of the existing Excel to QIF tools. I suspect that the extra clicks for one-at-a-time exports will pale in comparison even to the effort associated with trying to cobble something up from these pieces. I suspect the reason nobody has done it is that there is such little call to export all accounts to QIF because doing so has such low utility to most people--even in the total migration scenario it leaves LOTS of data behind, as previously discussed. And few users ever attempt the total migration. The secondary limiting factor, of course, is how little Microsoft has been willing to expose to how few outsiders about interfaces to get at Money internals. | I know, I know... Just seems like someone might have come up with some automated way or script that would show all the accounts, let you pick which ones you wanted, then do the export(s) (like a script that would 'push the buttons' automatically). Or something like that, would be a whole lot easier. -- Dick Watson wrote: - quote - > It's kinda like saying "I'm going to build a house on this vacant > lot. | One at a time. Into separate files by definition. And Export won't export Loan Accounts or account/category/payee/classification details information. Somehow given all of the issues associated with export (see above for some) this particular issue hardly seems like the biggest hurdle to migrating out of Money. | I would like to export every one of my accounts (including old ones) in MS Money 2007. Since I now have a Mac, I was looking into the possibility of switching to something like MoneyDance which requires that I export everything to OFX - or just for the sake of backup. However, Money only lets you export ONE ACCOUNT AT A TIME! Is there any utility anywhere that can export everything (maybe into separate files per account)? Or has someone written a script? Or are we resigned to having to do it one account at a time? I have a lot of accounts, considering all the 'old' ones I have closed. Thanks. Tom -- |
