| Those options didnt work. Any thing else you suggest? Really is a big problem. Are you sure your latest *.mbf file is 2 months old? Money 2006 saves a backup each time you exit, keeping the latest 4 if you used the default settings. 1. Look for a hidden *.tmp file about the size of a Money file. Rename that to JimHopes.mny, and open that. 2. Use File-> RepairMoneyFile-> StandardFileRepair level 2 or run salv.exe from your install folder -- typically "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2006\MNYCoreFiles" 3. Open Money to any file, go to File-> Help-> About, and write down your serial number. Use that as the product ID when you go to http://support.microsoft.com/money and opt for the free support. However they will probably not be able to get you going if your file is actually corrupt. |

| I was opening Money 2006 off line (I don't use on-line) and received an error that there was an internal error in opening the file. The application aborted. I have since tried to open My Money.mny file and I get the error message below. I have shut down and restarted, does not help. I know th "Money has detected that you did not close the file "My Money" before exiting. Money now needs to verify the information in your file. If your file is too large, this may take a few minutes. Do you want to do this now? If you click No, you will need to open a different Money file. " When I click on Yes, I get the message - "The e-mail address or password is incorrect. Please try again. If you are sure your credentials are correct, then the Server may be undergoing maintenance. Try again later." As I said, I only use the application off-line. I know the password is correct. Appears the file got corrupted when the internal error occurred. I have checked various locations for assistance and have not found any other references to the problem. The only thing I have found is the standared Money help info that indicates that if you forget your password, you are out of luck. I am able to open back-up file (which has same password), but unfortunately, it is 2 months old. Before I go thru recreating my file from this old back-up, any suggestions for fixing this problem - besides paying $35 to Microsoft support to see if they can fix the problem? |
