| I think things are going from bad to worse. Here's what I've tried: 1. Uninstall and reinstall Money 2. Enabled SSL2 3. Disabled TSL1 4. Remove password login from password manager in Money. Went in and changed password online. 5. Disabled Norton firewall. 6. Logged on to passport.net online so I know the new password works. 7. Restarted Money and tried to add password setup back in. Now Money says either the email address or the password is incorrect. I am having absolutely No problem with logging in with Windows XP. What is wrong with the connection between the two? I also have no problem logging in to Passport.net online directly from Vista. This has me to the point of tears. I already hate Vista, and I can't take it off this computer or it will invalidate the warranty. Can you please explain what the conflict between Windows Vista and Money is all about? | This is a brand new computer with Vista. I have absolutely no problem signing in with XP on another computer. There's apparently a conflict with Vista and Money 2007. I not only have restarted. I reinstalled Money, but will try the trial version you gave the link for. You don't need a LiveID/Passport to update prices. You need that to> investment information on a regular basis. I am a trust administrator and > cannot waste time daily having to manually update prices. Why is there such > a conflict with Vista? get statements via third party. See descriptions at http://www.microsoft.com/money/bankonline.aspx and look for the presence of the term "third party". You can remove the LiveID/Passport from your file. Perhaps you would want to try that with a copy with a different name. To do that, remove passport http://support.microsoft.com/kb/899631/ tells how. Note that for Money Plus, item 1.b would be Click "Receive account updates from MSN Money My Accounts". To get the LiveID to work with your current file, continue on with the http://support.microsoft.com/kb/891338/ article. - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, TMD wrote: > > > > I followed your instructions. | Have you tried Money Plus. Deluxe Trial: http://www.microsoft.com/money/freetrial_deluxe.mspx Plus may actually work better with Vista. If Plus has similar problems, then it may be due to firewall or other security software on your system. -Mark "TMD" <TMD[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:B400956A-D875-41FF-B51A-F0DD591C0B4C[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Yes, signing in without online suport works, but I need to be able to > update > investment information on a regular basis. Stop that.> allowing me to log in using online sign in. If you want to experiment with a different LiveID, do it with a new file-- not your existing file. I suggest you first save your last few backup files, your *.m16 file, and your main *.mny file to different media so nothing messes them up.... be it some action you take or your hard drive crashing. If you want to get into your existing file that has a LiveID/Passport on it, you are going to want to use the same LiveID/Passport that you used when you created the file. - quote - > "TMD" wrote: > > The subject was the error message when trying to sign in using my passport > > log in. | Yes, signing in without online suport works, but I need to be able to update investment information on a regular basis. I am a trust administrator and cannot waste time daily having to manually update prices. Why is there such a conflict with Vista? | Did you reboot your computer? I'm assuming you also tried a new Money file and a different Windows Live ID. Did you try signing into Windows under a different users with Admin access (to see if it might have been some corruption in the Windows user you were signing into)? -Mark "TMD" <TMD[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:9314BF9D-71C6-43D1-84D4-27E0D7582BB5[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > I have gone in and added a Live ID 4 digit passcode, and it is still not > allowing me to log in using online sign in. > "TMD" wrote: > > The subject was the error message when trying to sign in using my > > passport > > log in. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/891338/> right corner of the Money screen and try to sign in using Live ID. That gave > me an unsuccessful message, because I don't have Live ID, only a Microsoft > passport password. Live ID works as Passport. I think it was at least mostly a renaming. You have a choice to sign in offline. Does that work to get you into the file? - quote - > I have changed the SSL[at] protocol to enabled, and disabled the TLS 1.0 as > well. > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, TMD wrote: > > > > I have used Money 2007 for quite some time now with XP. | I followed your instructions. The version is correct, and am no longer receiving the same error message. Instead I'm getting a message that says Money cannot verify sign-in information, even though I was currently signed in on the Microsoft website, and I can sign in on the XP version on this computer. I then followed the instructions to go to the online button in the upper right corner of the Money screen and try to sign in using Live ID. That gave me an unsuccessful message, because I don't have Live ID, only a Microsoft passport password. I have changed the SSL[at] protocol to enabled, and disabled the TLS 1.0 as well. | The subject was the error message when trying to sign in using my passport log in. I will try this method. I don't understand the "Subject", but I understand the question.> computer with Vista and am now getting this message, even though I have > logged in to microsoft passport, and am on the internet when I am trying to > log in to money. I tried to download the Adobe flash file Money said it > needed, but IE won't let me do it. How does one use Money with Vista? Be sure that your Money and backup files are moved to a spot that you will have full privileges to, such as Documents/MyDocuments. If they are in a place like ProgramFiles, Vista will create an impermanent copy of the file for the user to use, unless the user explicitly right-clicks at launch and choose RunAsAdministrator that time. Check that the SSL2 protocol is enabled. That checkbox is in IE Tools-> InternetOptions-> Advanced. It may also be necessary to disable TLS 1.0. Right-click the Money icon and choose RunAsAdministrator to let updates happen. Then reboot the computer. Check that the Money 2007 version is 16.0.*.1303. |

| I have used Money 2007 for quite some time now with XP. I just got a new computer with Vista and am now getting this message, even though I have logged in to microsoft passport, and am on the internet when I am trying to log in to money. I tried to download the Adobe flash file Money said it needed, but IE won't let me do it. How does one use Money with Vista? |
