| This has been true of every one of the 16 or 17 file versions of Money. They also explain it to you in the dialog box that pops up when Money asks if you want to upgrade your data file. | I see, I wish they would tell us that once someone try the new version there is no way back to previous one! From labeling "trial" I thought I have the option "to try" and if I don't like it, I can go back; stupid me; they should call it "trap" version instead trial. There is the article ID 178465 about conversion of new to old version but I was not ale to do it even I followed all steps. Thank you Dick for your reply, Jaro "Dick Watson" wrote: - quote - > comments inline below. > "Jaro" <Jaros[at]hotmail.com.donotspam> wrote in message > news:38BB4C84-EDCD-4B6F-95D8-4BB155C7FB3F[at]microsoft.com... > > I will get M+ in 7 days, in the meantime I tried to reinstall M2004 this > > is > > a version I used to use before trying M+ trial. > If you used the trial of M+ with your data file, your data file would have > been upgraded and will no longer open with anything older than M+. > > I didn't see anything super > > in M+ so I vanted to go back to 2004, but that version wouldn't take my > > password anymore. > This is Money's way of telling you that you are trying to open an M+ format > file with something that pre-dates M+. > > So I got back to trial M+ and cancel any password from the > > program and trial M+ open without that. > Here I am getting lost as to what you are trying. > > Then when I downloaded M+ it would > > prompt for password again and nothing worked anymore. Burn these to a CD-ROM or something so you have copies before you dig a hole you can't get out of. The latest dated file in this collection is **probably** the file you last wrote to successfully with, I'm guessing from what you've written, M+. It should be a .MNY file. Install the M+ trial. Double-click on the file we just found. What happens??!? Hopefully it will open and all will be well. |

| Hi Dick, if you are there, I will get M+ in 7 days, in the meantime I tried to reinstall M2004 this is a version I used to use before trying M+ trial. I didn't see anything super in M+ so I vanted to go back to 2004, but that version wouldn't take my password anymore. So I got back to trial M+ and cancel any password from the program and trial M+ open without that. Then when I downloaded M+ it would prompt for password again and nothing worked anymore. Now M+ is gone as well as trialM+ and my previous 2004 ask for password and doesn't take it(I was using same pass. since 94) So can I somehow restore my last file(s)? Do I have garantee that M+ will work? Thanks much, Jaro "Dick Watson" wrote: - quote - > Money files are not backward compatible. | Money files are not backward compatible. IF you have an M04 file, your ONLY choice is to go back to M04 or M05/6/7/+. M01 won't get you there as it know nothing about the M04 file format. Perhaps we need to work on your problems with M+ vs. your data file.
