Nobody replying on this forum does, nor do we represent them. Personally, I'd find it easier to switch banks than to transfer years' worth of data from Money to Quicken, the only other reasonable (in my opinion) choice. I don't think Money is any better than Quicken, or vice versa. They're simply different and I have a lot of time invested in the data in Money. I, personally, would not want to abandon that. To me, one big bank is just like another, as long as they're cheap and have sufficient ATMs in my area. In case you care: OFX is a file format developed by Intuit and Microsoft. It's what your bank sends in the background when you connect with Money. For banks that don't support direct connection, many make the same file available for download from their web page. Unfortunately for the user, the effort of getting it is more than for those banks that support direct connection. Yodlee is a third-party service contracted by Microsoft to connect to web pages of banks that don't support direct connection. Using the user ID and password to your bank's web site, provided by you, Yodlee's system logs in your bank's web site as you, retrieves information, and returns it to Money in OFX format. That system depends on your bank's site remaining static. When your bank changes the layout, it's the equivalent of the tacky joke about rearranging the furniture in a blind person's home. The system doesn't know what to do, and chokes. Sometimes the bank reports the changes to Yodlee in advance but I'm guessing they're usually notified by customer complaint. In that case, Yodlee scrambles to reprogram their bot to get the same information as it did before. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL |

Only get transactions this way, cant pay bills. |

| When you log in to the Bank of America web site and view your account you should see a download button. This then gives you a choice of which format to use for the download. When I do it in VA I see a choice for Money 2006 and above. You are correct that to call it OFX is simply geek speak of the format used to provide the file from any financial institution to MS Money 2006 and above. Microsoft has direct connections to some of the financial institutions. Bank of America as you probably remember is the "merger" of many different banks. They never have merged all of the banking systems into a single system. Thus some of them allow the direct connection. The second method used by Microsoft to access the financial information was to use a "screen scraper" which simply logs in for you to the banks web page and copies the information that is on the screen. Microsoft uses two separate companies (Yodlee and CashEdge) to do this. Many banks however have implemented protection against such computer generated access as it can be a hacker trying to use a computer to break in. Many banks have gone to multiple level passwords and other ways to prove it is a human accessing the site. So what it appears that BoA of CA is telling you is that they do not support MS Money directly, but will allow you to log in and then download your data. What you end up losing is the ability to bill pay from directly in Money and have Money automatically in the background download your account transactions. You can perform the bill pay and the downloads by logging into the BoA website. I also have been with BoA for over 40 years and I am not interested in changing banks. I also bank with a credit union and ING Direct. Both of which do not have direct connections, so I log into their web sites and download to Money. Since my Mom is using Quicken I end up using both Money and Quicken. Both are relatively similar products, each has its problems and advantages. | Didn't work for me using the ID,Wash website, either. I'm not conversant with geek speak such as "OFX downloads" or Yodlee. Somebody did something to Money in the last two days that no one cares to address. B of A is a huge bank, whenever I try to get support from Money I get someone in who wants to give me "excellent service" in India who doesn't have a clue. Oh, that is a "know(sic) problem." | I am a BoA customer in VA. I just looked at the CA website. It is clear they offer OFX downloads to MS Money, they do not offer the direct connect. I however remember someone else on this newsgroup talk about accessing CA accounts by setting up the account as one of the states that BoA supports direct connect from. What should I do, what should I do? bill pay and any auto-debits that you have set up can be a chore, but it's not that much actual work. If they offer OFX download, that isn't all that bad. It's not as good as the more automated methods of course. I would stand by. The Yodlee interfacing doesn't involve support from BofA anyway. So I would not be surprised to see that working again. Some other customers will probably have some ideas, and they likely know more in that regard than the customer service. |

Hmm, I've been with BofA for over forty years, and Microsoft requires me to upgrade frequently, never fixes glitches in Money, and is impossible to reach by phone, email, online or otherwise. What should I do, what should I do? |

Do that from Tools-> Settings-> BackupSettings I bring that up, because if you don't readily find what lets you set things up the way you had it, File-> Restore of a backup is a good way to get you back. There have been some consolidations at BofA lately. I suspect they may have consolidated things somewhat. So I would try the other two. The Bank of America (WA & ID)would be via Yodlee, as your setup before was. You are not going to get outgoing Bill Pay to BofA thru third party Yodlee. Bank of America (All except CA, WA, & ID)corresponds to Direct OFX for whole country. It require monthly fee or meet extra criteria. If you ask the bank's customer service about Microsoft Money, I expect this is the one they would be talking about. So, my suggestions would be to File-> Restore and don't expect to do outgoing bill pay, or try configuring in one of the other two. A really neat way to find prior postings in this group is to use the Google Usenet Groups archive. http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search enter words that you think would be in relevant posts into the "all of the words" box. Enter microsoft.public.money into the newsgroup box. Consider selecting Sort By Date. There have been BofA discussions. |

I also have BofA(CA) as my primary bank. Today I couldn't update. My software says the bank is no longer providing automatic updates for BofA in California. | Hi I have Money Plus Deluxe (2007 I think), which I just purchased. I have setup online download of my bank (Bank of AMerica - CA) information and that works great. I have since signed up for online bill pay thru Money at Bank of America and I am trying to update my online services to reflect that. However, it does not let me do that. I have tried to stop online services, but when I try to sign up again, I don't see a Bank of America -CA option at all! |
