| The key to whether the process is hung or merely operating in background is if the .LRD locking file is present. When operating in background the process only locks the file while updating. |

It is easily reproducible by the steps I outlined. --ron |

In addition, this background process does NOT continue to run UNLESS I change focus away from Money while it is doing its backup. Finally, IF the process does not close down, I cannot open Money (I get an error message that money is open, and it cannot re-open it). So it is not a matter of "if I don't want" it to be running. Rather it is a problem where I MUST close it down in order to be able to re-open Money! --ron |

In summary, this is the process that runs in the background to retrieve your online account information when Money is running. Once you close Money, the process remains alive and continues to update your accounts. Personally, I have a kill process script that ends the process when my nightly system back-up runs. It's been 9 months or so since I've been killing the process nightly and no problems to date. You can safely end the msnoney.exe process if you don't want it to run in the background when Money is closed. This comes directly from MS Money support. HTH's -- kindler chase www.nCubed.com |

| No known fixes. I don't think it's been reported on M+, but don't recall if we know whether it was explicitly "improved" (the Money team never "fixes" anything since there are no "defects"). When you see it go into Task Manager and End Process msmoney.exe. I've had to do that quite a number of times and have seen no negative results. | Money 2007 and Windows XP Pro This has been reported here before. I'm wondering if there is any fix (other than to go get a cup of coffee while Money does its backup and closes). If I close Money and create a backup, and If I change focus to another program/window while Money is doing the backup, then although Money closes on screen, the money process remains (visible in the task manager). The problem is if that one cannot restart a visible Money session when Money is in this status, as the Money program thinks it is running. --ron |
