Agreed! It is really not a solution for accounting data. Really, it isn't.

I have tried the Money Repair tool on Level 2 using Money 2005 and the
downloadable salv.exe tool. Both utilities say my money file is fine. The
log says there were not problems.

I really hope there is a method for detecting the bad account and removing
it. If I can export the transaction from the account into .QIF shouldn't I
be able to view it and delete it in Money? I am certain this would fix my
problem. If I can just delete this account somehow.

And note that QIF ex/im will leave MANY data elements behind like loan
accounts and virtually anything you ever entered on a Details page.

Let's assume you are running XP.

If you have a known copy of your Money 2005 *.mny file, make note of
its location.

If Money Plus ins installed, launch Money Plus. Do a
File-> RepairMoneyFile-> StandardFileRepair level 2 to make a repaired
version of your file with a different name. Then open that repaired
file in Money plus.

If any of this does not apply to you, what differs?

If you were going to do the QIF imports, there are techniques --
primarily importing all of the applicable QIF file all at once. But
that will be your fall-back procedure.

Default Upgrade from 2005

I have been using Microsoft Money for several years (about 10). I am
currently using 2005. However, I cannot upgrade to the newest version -
Money Plus.

I receive an error while converting my file. I have tried the Money Repair
tool before upgrading and it says my money file is fine.

I have traced (I believe) the problem down to a single account. When I open
this account, I get the message:

Your Account List reflects an incorrect balance because of a minor technical
problem with the way Money stores your information. You can see the correct
balance in your account register. This issue does not affect your actual
account data. Money will automatically try to fix the inconsistency the next
time you open Money. For more information, go to Customer Support.

BTW - I have moved EVERY transaction from this account into another account.

My account register shows $0.00, but my Account list shows $607.52. There
are NO transactions in the account register. If I export this account to
..qif... sure enough there is a transaction there for $607.52. I cannot
delete this account. If I try, I get:

This operation cannot be performed.

I am stuck in the water. I can't keep using 2005 because it won't let me
use online services. I can't upgrade to 2008 because it won't let me.

Please help! I have several years worth of data that I really can't
re-create by exporting my accounts to .qif and re-importing them. There are
several transactions between accounts and these do not import nicely.

Thanks,

-Max
