| But why should we have to apply this workaround? This is ridiculous. And where will the problem strike next? It's the sort of problem that can go un-noticed for a long period of time and cause all sorts of problems to the user. What confidence can we have in a financial reporting/management system that changes the quantities of our investments at random? What will it corrupt next? This problem was first reported two months ago and it remains unfixed. I don't care one tiny bit whether there is a new data provider, nor should I have to care about these things. It is extrordinary that Microsoft Money/MSN corrupts our files this way and Microsoft does absolutely nothing about it. Not a comment in these news groups. No fixes. Nothing. There are some shares with bogus splits in the data stream from the new quote provider. To work around this, look at the split history for a stock. Go to the investment PriceHistory. UpdatePrices-> UpdatePricesManually, Look through the table and find the entries in the Source column that say "Stock Split". The first split, going back in time, will be identifiable by the quotes being suffixed with an 'S' for the price. The first may not be the bad one. Note the date of the bad split. It is not necessary to delete it at this point. Click Close. Then UpdatePrices-> RecordASplit. Record a split for the date you noted as a 1 for 1 split. Accept that you are overwriting the existing split. That should inoculate you to a re-download of the bad split for that date-- at least for some versions. Let us know how that works out for you. It would be nice if post the symbol for the stock and the date of the bad split data. I am not sure the 1:1 split workaround will work on Money 2004. Let us know if it does not. |

| I have just noticed that the quantities and prices for all transactions in some of my investments have been changed, the total is still correct. All quantities are now fractions (always less than what they were) and prices are correspondingly higher and also the price ends with the letter s. What has caused this? How do I prevent it happening again? What is the meaning of the letter s? I now have to go back and edit all my investment entries because the total quantity is now less than it should be. |
