I hope Money 2009 is that overhaul that is > > > overdue.- Hide quoted text - > - Show quoted text - causing the spending tracker problem. I upgraded to Money Plus and noticed no slowdown over 2007. With the 2007 upgrade a year ago, I did perform the "nuke the bills" and that sped up the program considerably for me. I've always used the tracker on my homepage in its previous forms with four categories. Upon upgrade to Plus, I noticed no change. I did some experimentation today on two different computers: Dell D820 laptop (Core 2 T5600 [at]1.83GHz 1GB RAM) running Windows XP Pro and an HP Desktop Athlon XP 2600+ (2.13GHz 1GB RAM). First I timed how long it takes to get the homepage up after clicking on "Sign In". With the older single core Athlon this took about 22 seconds from "Sign In" to being able to click on anything on the homepage. With the dual core laptop this takes about 12 seconds. I then tried adding several more categories to the tracker to see if that somehow slows things down using the laptop. I added 6 more categories to get a total of 10 and noted no noticable change. If I go to the Portfolio Manager and then click on Home, I get a blank white screen for approximately 10 seconds, then the homepage appears and it is accessible within 4 additional seconds (meaning I can click on any link or button and get an immediate response). I then added 10 more categories for a total of 20. I then timed how long it takes to go from the Portfolio Manager back to the homepage and it was the same, approximately 10 seconds. I hope this might be helpful for eventually solving the problem that others are experiencing. I haven't seen any others post how long exactly it is taking for their spending tracker to load. Does the homepage come up with the spending tracker unpopulated? How long? Can you click on anything else while waiting for the tracker to appear? In my case, the tracker is immediately visible as soon as the homepage is visible. For me, the tax module takes some extra time before it populates with data. Jeff |

| I don't use the online services since BofA charges $10/month to use them. The INSIGHTS program wasn't notifying me of upcoming bills although the graphics looked more like Vista on the Cash Flow piece. Aside from that, M2006 has been fast and reliable for me, so that's where I'm staying for now..... | Once activated, why do you care about activation? I agree that the spending tracker problems sound like a real drag. I think the dearth of features besides Insights (for what little that's worth) has been pretty well documented here and elsewhere. Correct me if I'm wrong and you were expecting more out of M+ for some reason. I'm still trying to find a free several hours to scratch out my MoneyPlus page. BTW, if you do use any online services, do not discount the additional two years of services vs. your M06. I don't have high hopes for MoneyPlusPlus or MoneyPlus2009 to be much besides more warmed over M05. I could end up pleasantly surprised. | Ok, I've given M+ the boot. I bought the CD after a decent trial period and have decided to switch back to Money 2006 Deluxe because... 1. Can't use Spending Tracker cuz it slows down EVERYTHING...MS Support says it is an unresolved issue. 2. Activation..... 3. Nothing extra except for INSIGHTS and Activation...just a relabled MSMoney 2006/2007. So as it is advocated, I supported M$ by buying the newest version....but ain't using it.....Grrrr!!!!! I hope Money 2009 is that overhaul that is overdue. -- Glenn B. |
