Go to http://moneycentral.msn.com/banking/...ts/welcome.asp Then sign in with your LiveID, and delete all the extra accounts. Alternately, remove financial all information from MSN Money http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;323964 Then do the steps in http://www.microsoft.com/Money/Onlin...ult.mspx#link2 including disabling online access in Microsoft Money for Citibank as described. |

Disable the Citi account for online access. Right-click on the AccountList where it says you have transactions to read. Delete the statement. Close those accounts. Merge the one you want, which should be possible since you made it not setup for online access. |

| Thanks; but I tried that twice and it doesn't help. The thing is, no matter how many times I restore the file from the last time I used it on the old computer, as soon as I fire up the new one, it downloads and overrides everything. For example, I'm still getting four separate Citibank accounts downloaded (I only have one) and NONE of them all the transactions, and I can't merge them, because when I go in to merge duplicate accounts, they are only listed as accounts I can merge with non-Citibank accounts. And so on. And when I start Money on the old computer, now all this data downloads into THAT account too. I have no idea why; I haven't done any updating or changing of any data whatsoever, I'm just trying to get what was on one computer onto the new computer, and apparently somewhere in that transition, all my stored online data is somehow hosed, and once that happens, there's no going back. And I pay all my bills online, and interact with my financial institutions through Money, so of course I wanted to keep the online interaction, but obviously I will have to start over. - quote - > From scratch. Let's assume your new computer uses Vista. Copy your *.mny and your recent *.mbf from the old computer to a USB flash drive (or use your favorite way to copy files). Copy those file to your Documents / MyDocuments folder. If they are in ProgramFiles, and you are running Vista, Vista will create an impermanent copy of the file for the user to use, unless the user explicitly right-clicks at launch and choose RunAsAdministrator that time. Check that the SSL2 protocol is enabled. That checkbox is in IE Tools-> InternetOptions-> Advanced. After install, right-click the Money icon and choose RunAsAdministrator to let potential updates happen. Reboot the computer. You should not have to run as Administrator normally. Then open Money by browsing to the *.mny file copied from the old computer, right-clicking, and choosing Open. Thereafter Money should remember which file you used last. |

| Migrating my Money 2006 to a new computer. Installed Money 2006; as soon as I opened it up, it downloaded my online file, but everything is a complete mess - for example, one account I now have four copies of, and when I go to merge duplicates, none of the four is available for for merging. Brought back as new accounts I paid off and closed three years ago. I have a backup file from the old computer, but will it even work, if everytime I go online, it overwrites my good file with all this crap? There's ten years worth of data in here, and now it's a shambles. I can't believe it's *supposed* to work like this, but it's been three weeks now, and I have NO idea of the true state of my finances because of all this. |
