| No, we do not know for sure. But features of old versions of Money have been blinking off one-by-one for some time now. Newer versions have an explicit date for "lights out". The older ones just seem to be gradually getting cutoff. They did just do a significant update to the MSN Money site. These have tended to be accompanied by old things getting weeded out. Again, it's an educated guess. In the old versions, users implicitly thought Microsoft was promising to keep them alive forever and Microsoft was implicitly thinking these old copies would go away before it was an issue. The "online services policy" and technologies like the M+ date-certain activation now make Microsoft's position explicit. And, when being honest about it and considering what the software cost in the first place, can you really blame them? | Trust me, if I just wanted to see my answers in print, I can get quite the thrill from groups.google.com without ever posting again: http://groups.google.com/groups?as_q...=2007&safe=off But my answer is definitely an educated guess. Here's the rationale for the guess: Why should Microsoft feel compelled to keep online services behind the covers of an application released eight years ago alive forever for free? Is it "built-on obsolescence"? I suppose in the sense that it might suggest that they won't indefinitely support a feature of an application that sold for about $20 and has been updated eight times since, yes, that's what it is. Unfortunately, it just might not. You chose whether you ever want to spend the money to upgrade the product. Microsoft choses when and if they will continue to provide you with what you call seamless features that you like and get used to. Bottom line is MONEY. Either pay or don't. Good luck. Steve |

| I'm guessing that Microsoft is sending a message about the seven year ride you've had on M2k. "tom" <tom[at]hotmail.com> wrote in message news:uzO7IKoFIHA.5328[at]TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... - quote - > This used to be a nice, seamless feature. What happened all of the sudden? |

| no longer work in my Money 2000. When I click them, I get "MSN Money-Page Not Found" and "The page you requested could not be found." But there is a workable link to the MSN Money Home Page, which is useless because it doesn't show the specific info that the "fyi" and 'news" links used to show...for the last SEVEN years :-) This used to be a nice, seamless feature. What happened all of the sudden? Any help appreciated. Thanks all. |
