Here is a better version of that process:

1.Open a new Notepad file, and paste the following six lines between
the delimiter lines below into the file. Save the file as
ClearBalance.QIF .

============begin ClearBalance.QIF==========================
!Type:Bank
D10/18/2007
T-1.00
PRemove Balance
MUsed to remove the balance
^
============end ClearBalance.QIF==========================

2. Change the date on the line that starts with 'D' to a date
later than the reported last download in the register. Today's
date should work. The date format depends on your Windows regional
settings.

3. Save the File-> SaveAs the file "ClearBalance.QIF" in the same
folder as your *.mny file.

4. Open Money, and File-> Import-> Downloaded Statement. Select
ClearBalance.QIF and click Import. Money will ask which account
(or to make a new account). Select the account you wish to clear
the Downloaded Date from, and click Next, then OK.

5.Do not process the statement as you would a regular statement.
Instead go to the Account List and right-click where it says
"Transactions to read:1" for the account that you imported into.
Choose DeleteStatement.

You can re-use the ClearBalance.QIF file on all the accounts you
wish to clear.

Michael Gordon posted a process to clear the downloaded balance
from the Bank Balance column of the Account List.

1.Open a new Notepad file, and paste the following six lines between
the delimiter lines below into the file.

============begin ClearBalance.QIF==========================
!Type:Bank
D10/18/2007
T-1.00
PRemove Balance
MUsed to remove the balance
^
============end ClearBalance.QIF==========================

5. Process the statement as you would a regular statement,
and then accept the transaction.

6. Note that the Bank Balance column of the Account List has
been cleared. I did not get the downloaded balance in the register
itself to disappear, but it did go away in the Account List.

7. Return to the account register and Delete the fake $1
transaction.

You can re-use the ClearBalance.QIF file on all the accounts you
wish to clear.

I don't know which versions this works with, but it
should work with Money Plus.

Thanks for the reply Cal. Since I rarely use (e.g. or download data to) the
accounts, is there a way to clear the Bank Balance to 0? Balancing the
account 0/0 doesn't work.

Thanks again.

Bank balance is the balance that downloaded last time. The adjusted
balance is the balance based on the transactions in the register,
including even future-dated transactions.

Default bank balance appears when account is zero balanced

Searched the group and checked the FAQ but didn't see a question or answer.

Using Money '08 on the Account List page I have several accounts that have
been balanced to zero for months and since the conversion a few months ago
these accounts are now showing a negative Bank Balance but a Zero Adj
Balance. The accts in question are at 0, nothing is owed. However the
amount shown are either the last (or next to last) payment made in the acct.
In one instance it's not a payment but a transfer of $$ from an overpayment
back to checking.

Any idea why Money would show an amount on the Bank Balance column and yet
have -0- Adj Balance.

Thanks.
