That sentence seems to contradict your other statements.> The reason was, that I had a lot of problems with quicken. Money - so far - > works fine for me. In Tools-> Settings-> CategorySettings there are two big buttons under the Standard Category settings. One of them may be of interest to you. The other would be the opposite of what you want. I don't know which you might want. - quote - > So can I wipe clean the categories, without impeding any functions in MOney?
Yes.At Banking-> AccountTools-> Accounts&Bills-> Categories&Payees-> Categories you can use Delete to get rid of categories. If there are transactions using that category, it asks what to do with those. Move is also similar. Instead of Banking-> AccountTools-> Accounts&Bills-> Categories&Payees-> Categories for navigation, I suggest you add a Categories button by clicking Shortcuts at the top. You might also like the effects of Tools-> Settings-> Categories-> UseTheDualCategoryDropdownControl |

| Hello - I just downloaded the trial version of Money Plus Deluxe yesterday. The reason was, that I had a lot of problems with quicken. Money - so far - works fine for me. I am cautiously feeling my way forward into the application one day at a time. My question: I know that I cannot change the category groups(adding or deleting), because they are needed the way they are for the internal mechanics of Money. The categories BELOW the category groups and the subcategories do not work for me. I need them organized in different ways (I am on the advanced account register). Is there any negative result, if I wipe clean the categories and start my own? With negative results I mean when Money wants to categorize downloaded transaction automatically, but goes on strike b/c it can only find the categories I set up and not the ones the application came with. So can I wipe clean the categories, without impeding any functions in MOney? Thanks Niki |
