Further to Cal's comments, MS UK have said they will review the future of
Money in the UK on a year by year basis. It is too late for them to do
anything about Plus (aka 2008), so we will have to wait and see!

First, Essentials would 't be what you would want. It would not use
a file from anything but Essentials.

Regarding Plus, if that were introduced in the UK, I would expect it
to convert the UK files nicely. Regarding the likelihood, let's let
others opine on that.

Thanks, all is clear now.

It begs the question, when will the Essentials or Plus versions be available
to the UK or will we have to start again?

The latest UK version is Money 2005 where it is box is marked
"Microsoft Money" without a year.

In Help-> About there is a License Terms (US/Canada) or
Licence (UK) terms button. I don't know what it would say in other
areas.

The US version cannot convert a UK file.

Unless you are looking to convert to a different region, you would
need a version from a store in the original area.

I did get an "incompatible version" message.

How can I tell as I downloaded the 2005 form Microsoft support page?

Did you get a message about "incompatible version" or what?

Were both versions from North America?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/891338 could help.

Also, you don't need a Passport/LiveID on a file if you are going to
enter things by hand or download OFX or QIF statements. Select
Decline during creation of the new file.

Default Painless Upgrade 2004 to 2007 ?

What is the least pianless and most effect way to upgrade from Microsfot
Money 2004 to 2007 without losing all my data?

When I first tried it would not convert my 2004 file or backup.

I tried to create a new file to enter it all manualy but it wouldn't accept
my passport password.

So I went back to 2004 and tried 2005 and that was no better so I am at a
loss!
