Let's be sure that the problem you are having is that Money is> over the next few days. As for the version, it's Money 2007 Deluxe. I've been > runing MS Money since 2000 and have updated to the new version every year... telling you that online services are expiring prematurely. That's what this thread was about, and it is what we have been thinking you are talking about. If the problem you are talking about is that some of your "third party" online accounts no longer update automatically then that could be that they are ones no longer supported as of July 19. http://www.microsoft.com/money/bankonline.aspx identifies which institutions are currently supported. - quote - > "Pete" wrote: > > THAT is a good question... | When I do start Money I'll let it run for perhaps 10-20 minutes after login. Then I'll do a manual update and let that finish. All in all it probably runs an hour or so once or twice a day. I had 5 accounts, 2 of which disappeared as online updates. The 3 that remain seem to work fine. At this point I can go the the respective account websites and perform an update by clicking on a link or whathaveyou, and this will update the accounts with no problem. Supposedly MS has done all they plan to do and most users seem to have recovered as expected. | Early expiration was a bug for users of M06/7. The OP was talking about M04. It has definitely expired online services for all users. No bug there. There are lots of online services "baked in" that are more than just direct connect to your FI. Even that, in some cases apparently, involves money changing hands over time. Plus users expect Microsoft to provide support for these back level programs and protocols when things go wrong. That costs money as well. Regardless, it's their policy and harping here is quite unlikely to change it. Oh, and Quicken got there first. I'm well aware of the "major features" of MS Money and other products like it. <treeser1[at]gmail.com> wrote in message news:1191209556.698251.133210[at]r29g2000hsg.googlegroups.com... - quote - > On Sep 30, 4:26 pm, "Dick Watson" <littlegreenge...[at]mind-enufalready- > spring.com> wrote: > > If you don't keep buying gas, your card doesn't keep running. no interest in whether or not you buy gas for your car, and in fact> in Microsoft's shoes. Why would you want to sell a service that someone gets > for free forever, especially when they only paid $25 or so at retail? Don's analogy was right on the money (no pun intended). Dick, GM has they have no control over that whatsoever. What Don was saying is that it wouldn't be right for them to suddenly say your complimentary starting service has expired therefore you can't start your car anymore. One of the major features of MS Money, and other products like it, are for you to do basic accounting transactions with your financial intuition. It costs Microsoft nothing since it is baked into the program. As Cal stated before, this is a bug. If it wasn't a bug, I certainly wouldn't keep putting coins in the slot to do basic banking. |

| I do understand that they can't allow a service to be provided free forever, however I have the same problem and I'm running Money 2007?? I've been running 2007 for several months now and this morning a dialog box popped up upon startup stating I've had updates for some 1100+ days. When my accounts came up I lost the update capability for 2 of the 5 accounts. If I had been running a much older version of Money I'd understand, but this makes no sense... Any ideas? | Reading this board, It sounds like my M2004 online services has expired as of 9/1. I think that means I will not be able to download transactions from my various account providers. Although I have downloaded without any problems in the last couple of days I guess it will stop soon. How can Microsoft justify this? When I download my account I assume the only parties involved are me and my account provider. It's like GM expiring the ability to start your car! Okay, I can understand expiring updates, but not any capability of my software that does require direct MS support. AM I wrong somehow? |
