Once I finally got Money to open properly after posting this, I changed the
opening page as you indicated to the Account List, which is normally where I
go anyway--no particular need for the Home Page--since I had read your advice
in this regard in several other posts and so far have had good luck. (I had
long ago collapsed several modules on the Home Page to speed things up.)

I have since fixed the account balances (as I have reconciled the affected
accounts to their statements), so I don't want to foul things up further. I
just won't make the mistake of trying to archive again, at least not before
saving a copy of my file.

No. Thanks for your assistance with this.

I would first go to Tools-> Settings-> ProgramSettings and set the
(GeneralDisplayStartMoneyWithThisPageOpen:Accoun tList

That should speed up your starting, since it sounds as if the
"home" page is probably associated with the slowness.

Then Tools-> Settings-> HomePageDisplayOptions and Remove the
BillsAndDeposits and SpendingTracker modules. If you still have a
problem when you go to the "home" page, remove all modules. If the
problem goes away, you can add things back until the slowdown does
not happen.

If you have a suitable backup file, I would File-> Restore to a point
before you did the Archive.

I hope you were not overwriting your good backup files in the
process.

Default Lots of Performance Problems with Money Plus

I recently upgraded from Money 2007 to Money Plus Deluxe. I have been a
faithful Money user since 1999 and have owned nearly every version. I
noticed that some features did not function properly in Money 2007
(primarily, I always had to force my online accounts to update), but since
upgrading to Money Plus about two weeks ago, I have had nothing but problems.
Money frequently hangs at startup, generally upon transition to the Home
page or after updating accounts. I tried four times to archive transactions
prior to 1/1/07 thinking perhaps my file size (about 33 MB) might be the
problem; the four archive files were all different sizes (ranging from about
29 MB all the way up to 40 MB) and completely fouled up the ending balances
for several accounts, including my checking account. Tonight I have thus far
tried about eight times to start Money; I finally got far enough to update
but afterwards Money locked up again, and it has continued to hang upon
reaching the Home page every time since then.

Any help would be appreciated. I seriously considered moving to Quicken
2008, but from the consumer reviews of that product that I've read, it's even
more buggy than Money Plus.
