| Thanks to all for the quick turnaround on this issue. I must say when I first logged in tonight and read that my Money had expired I was to say the least disturbed. Then I turned to this site and read the posts and sure enough after two restarts my Money is now working. JC "Money 2005 User" wrote: - quote - > The fix works for me too. | QIF import needn't duplicate every transaction that involves a transfer if done right. Just wanted to set the record straight on that. But you are correct that there is a LOT of data that the QIF Export/Import technique has no choice but to leave behind. This includes, for instance, virtually everything in Account, Payee, Category and classification details and Loan Accounts as you note. This reinforces my belief that the #1 thing on my Wish List for the Money team needs to be a No Data Left Behind interface allowing users to extract 100% of OUR data from Money's clutches. If they continue to pursue an exit strategy, this is one thing they surely owe long time users. I don't think the present issue has anything to do with old installation dates, per se. Otherwise I would have timed out about fourteen years ago. This also happened to everybody last night. They pushed something, somewhere, that's broken. Presumably they will sort it out and get the word out somehow. To give the most accurate support possible, I would like to give a brief summary of the problem as I understand it. After trying to update your accounts in your Money file, you received a message stating that your Online Services had expired in 2006. According to the license, your Online Services should not expire until September 1st 2008 or two years after the date of installation (whichever comes first), but neither has passed yet. If I have misunderstood the issue, please don't hesitate to let me know. I apologize things are not working as they should and I will certainly help you with the issue in any possible way I can. It appears that Money has 'carried over' the installation date of the original version of Money that you installed. If you upgraded from Money 2004 to Money 2006 initially, for some reason when you convert the file to a newer version it does not change the installation date that is saved in the file. This is why you are receiving this message. We are currently looking into this issue, but at this time I cannot provide any ETA on a resolution for this and will have to provide you with a work around. Unfortunately, there is only one way to resolve this issue at this time. The only way to make Money 'forget' the original date is to create a new file. You will be able to import most of the data (except for example bills and budgets) to the new file. Please follow the steps in the order listed. - Export your accounts from the 'old' file. Please see the following Knowledge Base article on how to do this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/178830/en-us - Close Money and move your data file and back up files to a different location on your computer - Open Money via the short cut. You will be prompted that Money cannot locate the Money file and that you can start a new file - Choose the option to create a new file - Add your accounts - In the new file, import the accounts that we just exported in the first step ( second part of KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/178830/en-us) and match them to the accounts that you have just created in the new file. If anything is unclear, please feel free to let me know. I look forward to your reply. Thank you for choosing Microsoft. XXXXX Microsoft Online Support Services --------------------------------------- Needless to say, this is not an acceptable solution. I have account data going back more than ten years. The QIF (ie dumb) import duplicates every transfer between accounts. This can affect such obscure things as credit card payments and investment purchases. It cannot process mortgages AT ALL. It will lose all of my historical pricing data. Microsoft needs to get this fixed ASAP. For anyone considering updating to a new version as the prompt states, read carefully the part about carrying over old installation dates. It won't solve your problem until Microsoft fixes their buggy code. Andy Dingwall |

| I should have said 'stopped updating completely' not 'upgrading'. Lets face it, most Money users are done for the day. About 9:00am EST tomorrow this should get real interesting when users start trying to download/upload their transactions. Add to this 'end of the month bill paying' and this could get real .....
