| I don't know whether this helps. I had a similar issue running Money 2000 under Vista. It worked fine until a week or so ago and then started failing with "Microsoft money has stopped working" when I tried to update prices or exit! DEP settings were already on OS components only so that KB didn't help, and compatibility mode running made no difference either, but ... Setting Money to "Run as administrator" allows it to work fine again ... Clearly one shouldn't have to do this but it seems a reasonable work round to get going again. | Thanks Cal I tried all the below and more and when I try and open my file it just gives the Microsoft Money has stopped working error. Any further ideas? Be sure that your Money and backup files are moved to a spot that you will have full privileges to, such as Documents/MyDocuments. If they are in a place like ProgramFiles, Vista will create an impermanent copy of the file for the user to use, unless the user explicitly right-clicks at launch and choose RunAsAdministrator that time. Check that the SSL2 protocol is enabled. That checkbox is in IE Tools-> InternetOptions-> Advanced. It may also be necessary to disable TLS 1.0. Right-click the Money icon and choose RunAsAdministrator to let possible updates happen. Then reboot the computer. If that doesn't do it, you might have to get into Vista compatibility mode settings. http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...f42dc1033.mspx http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...tibility-mode/ |

| I have MS Money 2003 Standard. I recently bought a new laptop with Windows Vista Business and when I load Money it seems to work fine with the blank Money file installed as standard. As soon as I try to open one of my files, it tries to update the database to the current version which seems weird as it is the same disc installation I was using on my XP machine. Just after the "update" starts it gives me the "Microsoft Money has stopped working" error and tries to contact Microsoft for a reason. No reason comes back so it restarts Money. Please help as I really need to work on my Money data. Thanks Murray |
