| Hmmm...very interesting. I re-imported the QIF that Money exported and it does NOT include the categories for split items!? So even the QIF's that Money generates don't work properly. ![]() "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, DRUAngell wrote: > > I do lots of eBay sales. | Well, this is only about about 80% for some reason. Here's an example of a QIF that I generated: !Type:Bank D9/22'2007 MFileMaker Invoice #91675 T34.62 PPrapanpong Potinam LSales Income:eBay SSales Income:eBay EFileMaker Invoice #91675 $18.06 SSales Income:Shipping Paid EShipping Paid $17.90 SSales Expense:PayPal Fees EPayPal Fee $-1.34 ^ D9/22'2007 MShipping for FileMaker Invoice #91675 T-7.93 PUPS LSales Expense:Shipping Cost ^ D9/22'2007 MFileMaker Invoice #91676 T67.52 PWalkins Pierre LSales Income:eBay SSales Income:eBay EFileMaker Invoice #91676 $51.00 SSales Income:Shipping Paid EShipping Paid $18.85 SSales Expense:PayPal Fees EPayPal Fee $-2.33 ^ D9/22'2007 MShipping for FileMaker Invoice #91676 T-8.53 PUPS LSales Expense:Shipping Cost ^ When I import that into Money everything works except for the split categories. The shipping cost entries, because they just have a single category, work perfectly. The actual payment entries worked except they left out the categories. I then fixed the categories in Money and exported another QIF to compare what Money gave me with what I generated. When I put them side by side they're the same. Any ideas why it would be leaving out the cateogories. I'm SO close! ![]() Thanks! "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, DRUAngell wrote: > > I do lots of eBay sales. | Just wanted to say this is working great. I don't know I never thought of opening the .qif file in a text editor before. I wrote a script to generate my own .qif from my database system so it includes all the splits. WooHoo! Thanks again! | Actually, I can probably make this work with what I've got. that last one in the sample I pasted is a PayPal transaction and it's pretty straight forward how most of them will be. A chart of all the labels would still be cool, though. Thanks for the tip! "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, DRUAngell wrote: > > I do lots of eBay sales. | Interesting...here's a small chunk of what it gave me: D9/5'2007 C* Mshipping cost T-35.15 PUSPS LSales Expense:Shipping Cost ^ D9/5'2007 C* Mebay fees T-96.52 PeBay LSales Expense:eBay Fees ^ D9/5'2007 C* Msold de cd player T89.70 PManuel Aguilar LSales Income:eBay SSales Income:eBay Esold de cd player $80.00 SSales Income:Shipping Paid Eshipping paid $12.69 SSales Expense:PayPal Fees Epaypal fee $-2.99 So it's separating each whole transaction with a ^ and then each split category inside seems to get flagged by the first character on the line: D, C, M, T, P, L, etc. Some of them are pretty straight but some aren't. I don't suppose there's some place to get a list of all the characters it would use for each corresponding field in Money is there??? Something that says P = Payee, T = Total Transaction Amount, E = memo, etc. For instance, I can't tell what the difference between L and S is..?? Items with multiple categories split up have an S line for each category, but the first one gets an L line as well. Only the first, though. Not sure what that is. | I do lots of eBay sales. Almost all of these sales are paid with PayPal. As such, each PayPal payment actually consists of 3 categories: Sales Income : eBay Sales Income : Shipping Paid Sales Expense : PayPal Fee I split up every transaction this way. Then I have all these kick ass reports I can run with everything very specific like that. I like it a lot. The problem is I have to manually enter each and every transaction into Money in order to maintain this organization. It's VERY annoying. I'm a web developer and I automate everything that I possibly can. I can't believe there is no feature to import .csv files, or delmited files of any sort...??? The time it would save me to be able to import transactions into money with split transaction information is tremendous. Any information I can get on something like this would be greatly appreciated. Or...I hate to ask...but information on another product that has this capability would be great too. Thanks!! |
