Default Re: Moving from Money 2006 to Money Plus

Thank you, Art and Dick for the information. I will definitely NOT import,
as I had planned on doing. I guess what I will do is copy the .MNY file
from the old machine onto the new one, install MS Money and let it find the
..MNY file. If I run into any problems I still have the .MNY file on the old
machine and can fall back to it.

I believe either way will work. What I did was install the new version of
Money on a second machine. I then created a series of tests that I ran to
decided that I was planning on moving to the new version. At that point I
copied my Money file from the previous version of Money onto the machine and
used Money to Open it. At that point Money asked if I wanted to upgrade
this file and I said yes.

All I am trying to say is that you do not need to have the file on the
machine at the time that you load Money, you can load it at a later time. I
do however fully agree with Dick that the word "Import" has a special
connotation within Money that would imply importing a downloaded statement
or recovering an account.

Do NOT "import". Copy your .MNY file to the new machine before you install
Money Plus. Put it in My Documents or a folder in My Documents. When you
install Money Plus, at some point it will give you the option to setup a new
file or find an existing Money file--assuming that you've never used Money
on that machine before. Tell it you want to use your file and help it find
your file. Money will do the necessary updates to the file and explain the
process to you.

Default Moving from Money 2006 to Money Plus

I've got Microsoft Money 2006 Premium Edition, and have been using it for a
couple of years. I have downloaded Microsoft Money Plus Premium, which as I
understand it is the new version of Money for 2008. I have not yet
installed it, but will probably tonight. I want to get my Money, in the
2006 database, to a new machine for Money Plus. When I do move it from one
machine to the other, is it the case that all I have to do is install Money
Plus on the new machine and import the data out of the existing .MNY file
from the old machine? Or is there anything else that I need to do?
