You can use background banking, even if you don't have a
LiveID/Passport on your file.

On Tools-> InternetUpdates-> CustomizeUpdates there is a
checkbox to control Automated Online Updates. If the box is
ticked, mnybbsvc.exe, the background banking service, is run. If
you open a Money file where the checkbox is cleared, mnybbsvc.exe
ends. You are able to select this even if there is no
LiveID on the file.

I cannot believe I missed that. Thank you - that did the trick. It
is strange that my browser did not open when I clicked the same links
on the left nav bar, but there are greater mysteries in the world.

One of those mysteries is just how is the background banking in Money
Plus enhanced, as advertised? Waiting to hear back from a Money Plus
rep on that.

Thanks again!

Try the following:

Tools: Settings: Browser Settings

Select under Browser, "Browse the Internet from within Money" if it is
not already selected.

Hope this helps.

Update:
I just tried the same procedure with Microsoft Money Premium 2007 with
the same results. How odd.

Default Microsoft Money Plus Investing Center

Does anyone out there have Microsoft Money Plus Premium? I am trying
that version and I wonder if anyone can duplicate what I am
experiencing:

I click on the Investing tab
Click on anything in blue horizontal bar below tab - Markets, Stocks,
ETFs, etc.
My browser (Firefox) opens with a page from MSN Money

-But-

If I click the same selections using the left navigation bar, the same
MSN Money pages open within Microsoft Money Plus and not in a separate
browser (a better user experience).
