| Unfortunately that won't resolve the activation problems as the money activation wizard creates and runs a temporary executable on the fly that won't be in the list of exclusions. The DEP for essential Windows Programs only is the correct setting that will allow activation to work. | I contacted MS Money Tech support and have an open case number with them. They transfered me to Digital River and DR is sending me a new Activation key. This take two business days, so I am waiting. I also had another problem that affectd Money and Outlook 2007. I couldn't sign in to Money's online services when I started the program. I could sign in "offline" and Money could download transactions from my accounts. In the case of Outlook, the program couldn't not access my email account passwords either to use them or change them. A simple reboot cleared up both of these problem. This problem may have been in effect when I tried to activate Money. I'll do a reboot prior to my next attempt. I'll let you know after I get my new activation key. | I am unable to activate MS Money Plus Deluxe under my standard user account. I purchase the product from the online store. The details of what happened when I tried to activate it follows: 1. I entered my activation code and I got a UAC message. I have Vista Home Premium and I'm using a standard user account. I entered my administrator password in response to the UAC message. If my memory serves me right, I got an error message and the activation process aborted. 2. I've had installation issues in the pass which I solved by logging on to my administrator account. So, I logged to it and successfully activated Money Plus. Then I went to try it using my normal account. 3. I started up Money Plus using my standard account and I got the activation message. I entered the code, got the UAC message and entered my administrator password. This time activation appeared to work. I restarted Money and got the activation message again. I tried to activate Money receptively and I continued to get the activation message. 4. I logged back into my administrator account to test Money. It starts up with correctly with no activation code message. So activation worked with an administrator account. 5. I changed my standard account to an administrator account and logged into it. I tried activating Money but now I get a message that said that there are no more activation keys available for this product (code ARM1010). 6. I went back to my administrative account and ran Money. It quit working. It gave me the activation message and I can reactivate it again because there are no more keys. Has anyone been able to activate Money Plus under a stadard user account? Does anyone have a solution? At a minimum, I believe I'll need a new activation key. Maybe I need to disable UAC. I tried getting support via the MS support website. I tried "live chat" and email support, but I keep getting an error which says to try again in a few minutes. I'll if I can get it to work, I'll call them. I hate to repeat all this over the phone to some support flunky. I think sending this all in writing would work best. George |
