I enable the SSL2 protocol on my Vista laptop and TLS 1.0 was already
disable...the chose RunAsAdministrator followed by a reboot...seems to have
had no effect on the installation of Money updates...any other suggestions
would be appreciated...

Thanks for the note on the problem with saving backup files on <C> ...I guess
I will continued to have to change file attributes if I want to to backup on
this drive...Thanks again and if you have any other suggestion for backing up
Money 2008 on startup let me know....

You did not say what OS you are using, but with Vista, be sure that
your Money and backup files are moved to a spot that you will have
full privileges to, such as Documents/MyDocuments. If they are in a
place like ProgramFiles, Vista will create an impermanent copy of
the file for the user to use, unless the user explicitly
right-clicks at launch and choose RunAsAdministrator that time.

Check that the SSL2 protocol is enabled. That checkbox is in
IE Tools-> InternetOptions-> Advanced. It may also be necessary
to disable TLS 1.0.

Right-click the Money icon and choose RunAsAdministrator to let
any updates happen. Then reboot the computer.

enable DEP/ Much appreciated and Thanks...

BTW, another anomolie with Money Plus Premium, my backup file on <C> is read
only and every time I back up my data I have to change the file attributes
(no problem backing up on <F> and <H> )...any fix for this as changing the
attributes has no effect as they resort back to read only...Thanks also for
this help....

Thank you, Mark.
Switching back to the default worked. I appreciate your help. I had tried
adding Msmoney.exe to the excepton list but I would never have thought of
the others.

Thanks again.

Have you enabled DEP?

If so, either switch it back to the default "windows services only" settings
or add the following executables to the exception list:

Activate.exe (Money Activation Utility)
Daupdate.exe (Microsoft Money Update Utility)
Extend.exe (Money Activation Extension Utility)
Mnybb.exe (Microsoft Money Background Banking)
Mnyinsit.exe (Insights)
Msmoney.exe (Microsoft Money)

Default Software update not successful

Operating system: Windows Vista 32-bit Home Premium.

I installed MS Money Plus 2008 and activated it successfully. When I open
the program, I get the message "To continue operating successfully, Money
requires a software update". When I try to update, I get the message
"Microsoft Money Update Utility has stopped working" and the program closes.

Has anyone else had this problem or have a solution/suggestion?
