| Can't say what's happening. I'm wondering if, for instance, the problem is data file specific and wouldn't occur with the sample data file or a new data file. M05 was never my favorite. | That's a new one here. I think a "recent" upgrade to an already obsolete version of Money that was as bad as M05 was from the get go was a bizarre choice. Sounds like something our EIS group would think was a wise idea. You know, deploy nothing before it's entirely obsolete. I'd make sure that the Internet Update to M05 has been performed. (Help|About reporting something like 14.0.*.1105.) Unique among many versions of Money, M05 had so many problems when they shipped it that it got a massive service update very shortly after shipping. They must have been working the fixes as they did the original RTM. I'm also wondering about things like video drivers. Can't say why, exactly. I'd also consider opening a support case directly with Microsoft on this one. I believe they will still support M05--but not for much longer, it's three versions obsolete now. | Hi I have an issue with a user running Money 2005. Problem as follows ------------------------------------------------------------- In the Forensic Accounting Section, most of us have recently upgraded to Miscrosoft Money 2005 from an earlier version. This is an essential tool for our financial analysis work. However, since upgrading, I am having trouble with Excel whenever I have been using Money at the same time (my work requires me to be working with both open at the same time – I have dual screens). What seems to be happening is that when I have been operating in Money, and then click my cursor back into an open Excel spreadsheet, my cursor in Excel seems to lock into the first cell I click in. Although I can move the cursor on the screen, it only highlights areas starting from the first cell, and does nothing if I move it over the toolbar, menu bar, start bar or any other windows or icons outside the Excel window (the highlighted area on the spreadsheet continues to scroll in the direction I have moved the cursor). The only way to get out of this mode seems to be to close Excel down using ctrl-alt-del and the task manager. I did call the help desk to discuss this when it first happened last week (Tuesday 28/8 I think), and although no solution was proposed, we solved it at the time by calling up the task manager and ending Excel. However, this problem has since happened 3 out of the 4 times I have had Excel and Money open at the same time. My work associate says that she has had similar problems with Excel at home, seemingly randomly, but for me it is obviously related to running Money at the same time. I wonder if it is a problem that arises with Excel when something else is using lots of memory or resources (in this case, the new version of Money)? Can you please help me. With the complex financial analysis we carry out in this section, and Money and Excel being our main tools and often used together, this is a significant problem ------------------------------------------------------------- The previous version used was Money 99. The user upgraded to 2005 (ver14.0) and has been having the problems since. Can anyone offer any ideas as to what may be causing the issue? Thanks |
