If you want to experiment with your theories, in a copy of your file
you could switch the account to not track cash transactions. I
expect that to empty out the cash account. Then set the account to
track cash. Add back what you want by hand. That could be a single
compensating transaction.

Expect any transfers to/from other accounts to show as Xfer to
deleted account in the other account.

After you collect your data, return to using your original file.

It is an Access database subject to its size and performance limitations.

However, it is a mute issue since it cannot be done anyway.

Performance seems pretty independent of size as well. Almost nobody (I
hesitate to say nobody as there are lots of posts in the archives) has ever
come here reporting that archiving transactions has improved performance
significantly.

Was not worried as much about size as processing time.

Size, schmize. Who care? When 9GB DVD-R DLs are under 2 bucks and one can
buy 500GB disks for under $200, size isn't the issue it once was. Archiving
at best probably wouldn't shrink your file much and many of the long time
posters recommend against it.

Archiving does not remove any transaction that has any component that lands
anywhere in an investment/investment cash account. This has something to do
with preserving cost basis reporting, supposedly. Your only way to delete
them is hand pruning. Also not recommended.

Default Money 2008 Investment Cash Transaction

I just noticed when converting M4 to M8 that I have investment cash
transactions going all the way back to 1997. I guess one has to carry
investment transactions to determine when stocks are bought and sold. Is
there anyway to archive investment cash transaction. Seems like it would
decrease the size of the database?

Thanks

Mike
