Set
Tools-> Settings-> OnlineServiceSettings-> ShowStandardizedPayeeNames
to combine payees that differ only by a number and/or punctuation.
This may work better after you have combined payees from previous
downloads.

Default Cleaning Out Preferred Payee Names

My installations of Money 2004 and the one I upgraded to Money 2008 have
gotten rather bloated with Preferred Payee Names.

I can use the Preferred Payees Rules Manager to see them. However, it is
most difficult to delete entries because one can only delete one at a time.
For example, I have tons of entries

Check 1 Payee
Check 2 Payee

Check 1000 Payee

I would like to delete these 1000 entries, but did not want to be forced to
do them one at a time. I would really like to delete them all and start
over.

Is there any more efficient means to clean of the Preferred Payee name
list?

I do have an excluded entry for Check, but that does not seem to make a
difference, I am still getting those entries.

How do I stop something like:

10 entries in the preferred payee list

Payee name Variation Payee
WAL-MART #5433 WAL-MART #5433 SE2 HOT SPRI

Then

14 entrees underneath that

Payee name Variation Payee
WAL-MART #5433 SE2 HOT SPRI WAL-MART #5433 SE2 HOT SPRIN

I am obviously not using this feature correctly.

How to clean it out?

How to stop the list from getting bloated again?

Thanks,

Mike
