How is this > 'not doing Windows CE devices'? history of programming for Window CE devices. My expectations were of having a working product available, not one still in beta: http://www.microsoft.com/money/Money...ldDevices.mspx Quote:
Ultrasoft is working hard to get a production system up. However, the write up above has no mention that the product is still in beta for Pocket PCs. I got lost on the Ultrasoft site for a while trying to buy the product only to end up on a page saying it was not yet available. I have been using Pocket PC for as long as I can remember, I expected Ultrasoft to be ready to go. - quote - > > In any event, Ultrasoft does have a preview (beta) version that one can

I reported them with the hopes that other users having the same issues would have a heads-up. BTW, I am using an iPaq 2215 and Windows XP with all patches. I have communicated the problems to David at Ultrasoft directly and hopefully the information will help. However, I had not intended to be a beta tester. As I said, from the description above I expected the install to be a no brainer. That and their banning my email address tld (info) because they believe it to be a spam problem caused me much frustration until the early hours of the morning. In defence of Ultrasoft, David has been very pleasant and wanted all the details of the problems I encountered. I look forward to them releasing a problem free production system. Ultrasoft is installed and appears to be running. I have not yet used it enough to know if it has any other "niggles" awaiting me. Mike |

I'm not sure what this means - as a company with a mature and capable PalmOS product that is in a final public preview stage prior to release. If you are going to try an install, leave yourself lots of time. I'm not familiar with those problems. Looking on the Ultrasoft forum (and commonly reported or discussed. There have been some installation issues (mainly to do with with different AS and Device Centre versions) but nothing like you describe. There's certainly been nothing related to missing folders reported that I can remember so this sounds like something device related or a specific problem in your install. From my experience, it looks to be running quite well at the moment with nothing but a few niggles standing between it and release. |

| Installed Money 08, brought in my M04 database and things seem to be running OK. I did have a couple of downloaded bank transactions that got confused about what was already in the register. A couple of recurring payments for October got grabbed rather than processing the ones already in the register. I did a quick repair and will watch what happens. As most will know or find out, when one installs Money 08 one loses Pocket PC. Instead, users are directed to go to Ultrasoft. Unfortunately, Ultrasoft does not have a production version that will run on Window CE devices. They handle the Palm just fine. It puzzles me why MS would want to push customers to a vendor that is heavily not doing Window CE devices. In any event, Ultrasoft does have a preview (beta) version that one can download that expires every two weeks. They say the will have a production version out fairly quickly. The preview copy I downloaded and installed (finally) is not ready for prime time. The install did not create needed folders, the help file would not pop up because its name was misspelled, the log file that might help was not available because of the missing folder, and so on. Truely a pain in the rear. It took me several hours to finally get it installed and the M08 downloaded to the ipaq and everything sync'd. If you are going to try an install, leave yourself lots of time. It does appear to be finally installed and working, but I have done very little with it other than to install it. I tried to register for customer support, but the admin has banned my tld (.info) for user email addresses due to his belief that all .info emails are spam. I have looked at roughly 200 spam attempts a day for some time that were rejected and not one of them had an info tld. I finally used a throwaway mailinator address which is what spammers can do anyway. The experience has not left me a fan of Ultrasoft. That brings me to my next question. Anyone of know of a Pocket PC type program that will sync with M08 and runs on a Windows CE based ipaq? Thanks. Mike |
