True, but that it not the majority. That reminds me. The average NAT> W32/Sobig.f[at]MM can also open up a user's computer port, making it > vulnerable to hackers, who can plant dangerous Trojans. router protected people against that one/series. So the use of a NAT router, even for one computer, serves as another line of defense. Some people bought new computers and headed for the update site as their first action. Too late. The Sobig worm got them. A NAT router in default configuration would have protected them. |

| Cal you say "Most worms work by users, their email programs, or browsers opening unsafe attachments and such". That is not strictly true, a colleague recently received the W32/Lovsan.worm via a http:// webpage without him having to open or activate anything. The W32/Sobig.f[at]MM can also open up a user's computer port, making it vulnerable to hackers, who can plant dangerous Trojans. These malicious programs often let unauthorized users remotely take over a system, steal personal information or use the infected PC to send spam. However, I will look into the other points you raised. | I am new to this newsgroup so please excuse me if this question has been asked before. My OS is Windows XP and my money programme is "MS Money 2000", along with McAfee 6 and ISS's BlackICE PC Protection (Firewall) and my computer is up-to-date with all the MS Security Patches I have used online banking for a considerable time now and thought that I would try to link the Money 2000 programme up with online banking. I succeeded and managed to get the bank data downloaded (i.e. Statements etc.). However, I notice that when using Online Banking my accounts data is held at the bank whereas with Money 2000 this information is now recorded on my computer (i.e. Account #s including VISA). Considering the sophisticated methods now employed by Virus/Worms/Trojan Horse authors etc. I am concerned for the security of my data, is there any further measure I can take to protect my data?
