Answer as of 9/3/07:
I chose connect - selected the accounts - screen looks "normal".
Completed. The "Read call summary screen" shows under each account name.

That could be reworded as "Most online features
*that_MS_wants_you_to_use* require you to sign-in to Money...". It is
correct to say SOME online features require sign-in but, if you don't
want to do that, there are plenty of ways to use Money for online
banking without a Live ID.

I use Deluxe 2007 for bank, brokerage, credit and other accounts. I do NOT
use a passport sign in.

Deluxe would be most comparable to what you have been using.

Most feature do not require you to use a LiveID. Perhaps the
difference in interpretation would be what I think of as a feature.

Neither. You will need a LiveID if you want to automatically
download statements from an institution listed in
http://www.microsoft.com/money/bankonline.aspx for which the
description uses the phrase "third party". For everything else that
I can think of, such as for web statements or direct OFX statements,
LiveID is quite optional. With Money Plus, you can even use
"background banking" for your FIs that use direct OFX statements
with no LiveID, if you want to avoid clicking to have Money download
the latest statements.

Putting a LiveID on a Money Plus file does not send transactions
from Money Plus to MSN Money as it did in some earlier versions.
Statements from any "third party" FIs will pass thru MSN Money and
be read from MSN Money into Money Plus.

Some things will seem unfamiliar you.

Early I would suggest you click Shortcuts.... at the top of the
screen and add shortcut icons for the AccountList and Portfolio.

Clear Portfolio-> UpdatePrices-> UpdateAutomaticallyEvery__Minutes
for better speed when entering the portfolio view.

In Tools-> Settings-> BackupSettings
I suggest checking
x Automatically backup my Money file every time I close Money
Save in [a place on your hard drive ]
x Ask me before backing up each time*
x Compress Backup Files
Keep only the _20_most recent backup files [adjust to taste]

x Perform scheduled backups every _14_ days
Save in [a USB flash drive location]
x Ask me before backing up each time*
x Compress Backup Files
Keep only the _2_most recent backup files [adjust to taste]

* to let you skip the backup for times that you don't care to do
that as you exit.

As you probably did before, copy your latest backup, maybe
monthly, to a CDR. What is new to you is that the backup file is
already uniquely named.

Got it thanks.

I was just checking Trial downloads and can't try Money PREMIUM , so will
try BUSINESS version ( all premium features plus a few).
http://www.microsoft.com/money/Produ...ve_tab=Compare

But, before I do, I read this:
Most online features require you to sign-in to Money with your Windows
Live ID (email and password).

Is that for downloading from MY bank/broker or for MSN Money site.
Currently I have nothing to do with logging in online to Money website. I
just download from broker/bank sites - no Microsoft online records.

So, with new version, do I/you HAVE to have to log in with Live ID each
time ? Or is that just if I WANT to have my info stored online.

Thanks

Import.

You will be able to import .qif as new or recovered accounts. That
does not check for matching and duplicates, and there may be some
other difference I am not thinking/aware of.

The file save/import would fail on "download" or "import" ?

So tonight I should update everything online, then archive it. And that's
all I can do online - from here out, on that PC it's all done manually.

I DO have M2006 on other PC's and those PC's will be fine for now. I
haven't upgraded this one only because each new version uses more and more
screen space for "menu" stuff and less of MY onscreen data so will use
M2006 for now and download M2008 as a trial on a spare disk.

As always, thanks Cal.

I don't know what the display would look like. Maybe the button
would get grayed out? You will be able to enter prices by keyboard.

Default M2004 - what will happen on 9/2/07

So when I go to update prices, will I get an onscreen error ?

How about fetching account info from Fidelity/banks etc ? If I go to their
site and save info as OFX/QBX file and then import will that be OK ?
