| In the Budget tool in 2007, there are a few different major categories: -Income -Committed Expenses -Fun -Irregular Expenses -Savings & Debt -Retirement So you could easily use either Savings & Debt or Retirement as the category where you could budget and track some savings. Let's say your Savings & Debt category is allocated 10% of your total income, and you make $1000 a month. That means S&D would get $100 a month for it's budget. You could then set aside 10% of S&D's budget for savings, and the other 90% for debt, so you would use the Planned column and enter $90 for Credit Card Payments/Transfers, and $10 for 'Transfers to: Savings Account'. -Louis "Rich Dreiman" wrote: - quote - > I recently read a post that stated that you could not set savings goals in > Advanced Budget if you had debt to be paid, ie credits cards, etc. I > understand this "feature", but where in my budget, what category, etc, can I > add items like retirement, savings, etc? Savings Goals never have been well supported in Money.> goals in Advanced Budget if you had debt to be paid, ie credits > cards, etc. I understand this "feature", but where in my budget, > what category, etc, can I add items like retirement, savings, etc? > Or is Savings Goals the best place and I just need to pay off all my > debt first? > My primary goal is to just set aside a couple of hundred bucks each > month and I want to make sure I track that, but not by using fake > accounts. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL |

| I recently read a post that stated that you could not set savings goals in Advanced Budget if you had debt to be paid, ie credits cards, etc. I understand this "feature", but where in my budget, what category, etc, can I add items like retirement, savings, etc? Or is Savings Goals the best place and I just need to pay off all my debt first? My primary goal is to just set aside a couple of hundred bucks each month and I want to make sure I track that, but not by using fake accounts. -Rich |
