| I have a large Australian portfolio and it is greatly affected by these phantom share splits. There are far to many stocks affected to start fiddling around with the suggested solution. And anyway tomorrow there might be another lot affected, or some other data problem may corrupt the integrity of the data. This is an extremely serious error which Microsoft must fix ASAP. There is no way we can use on-line updating of prices the way it is. Work arounds are completely unacceptable. One problem was the above "split" business, the other was erroneous share prices for some (all?) money market mutual funds. At this point, I would like to know if there are other known problems with the "new quote provider." Thanks for any info. | Cal, Thanks for the reply I have applied your suggestion and my share balances are now correct even after using "update prices online". The stocks/dates I was having problems with were: DRX 30/04/2007 was 99:100 should have been 64:67 KEL 18/06/2007 was 97:100 changed to 1:1 IHG 13/12/2004 was 100:100 should have been 25:28 IHG 24/06/2005 was 96:100 should have been 11:15 IHG 13/06/2006 was 100:100 should have been 7:8 SMWH 27/09/2004 was 96:100 changed to 1:1 SMWH 01/09/2006 was 139:100 changed to 1:1 SBRY 19/07/2004 was 100:100 changed to 1:1 NWS 01/09/2006 was 19:5 this is missing now UU. 27/08/2003 was 115:100 changed to 1:1 VOD 31/07/2006 was 100:100 changed to 1:1 XTA 05/10/2006 was 111:100 changed to 1:1 It looks like some have already been changed as when I reenabled the updates some of the incorrect share splits were no longer downloaded. To work around this, look at the split history for a stock. Go to> share splits happening but retain the option to update online the proces of > the affected companies. the investment PriceHistory. UpdatePrices-> UpdatePricesManually, Look through the table and find the entries in the Source column that say "Stock Split". The first split, going back in time, will be identifiable by the quotes being suffixed with an 'S' for the price. The first may not be the bad one. Note the date of the bad split. It is not necessary to delete it at this point. Click Close. Then UpdatePrices-> RecordASplit. Record a split for the date you noted as a 1 for 1 split. Accept that you are overwriting the existing split. That should inoculate you to a re-download of the bad split for that date-- at least for some versions. Let us know how that works out for you. It would be nice if post the symbol for the stock and the date of the bad split data. |

| I am running Microsoft Money 11.0 (2002?) on Windows XP Home SP2. It seemed to be working OK until quite recently when I noticed the number of shares for several companies was showing an incorrect value. After loads of investigation I've found it is caused by some share splits being created/updated whenever I update prices online. If you set up a new Money file and add one account containing 100 shares for Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) purchased on 01/01/2000 (before the company was set up) and then update prices online you get incorrect share splits created. Any existing share splits may also be corrupted. Other tickers which cause a problem are DRX, KEL and XTA. Some companies (e.g. SBRY and VOD) have 100:100 share splits incorrectly created. Other tickers I am having problems with are SMWH and NWS. To prevent the corruption I have had to turn off updating the prices online for the tickers listed which has limited the usefulness of the program. Is this just a problem with this particular version? How can I stop the share splits happening but retain the option to update online the proces of the affected companies. |
