| First, it worked. Thanks to all, especially Cal Learner and Chris Cowles for their advice. When I performed the level 2 Repair I got this as the report: Fixed records in report table. Fixed records in system table. So that was it. Something corrupt in the file. Five min's after reading your post my problem was solved. I've deleted the Money file with the errors and renamed the Repaired file to be my regular money file. Thanks again! | Ok that's clear. I matches exactly now and I just deleted the other removal entries. So the Money generated Remove Shares is the only disposal transaction I have. Quantities and Amounts are zero. Investments still show until I close them from Accounts List. But still can't delete them... That includes remove shares and sell, among possible others. Adjusting Qty to 0 is what I'm trying to get you to do. When you do that, Money creates a 'remove shares' for the qty it needs to remove to set the account qto to 0. When it did that, did the qty in the remove shares match _exactly_ the qty in the sell or whatever you did last to dispose of the shares? |

| So from Account Summary, if I select Account Update I am able to adjust the Qty to 0. This is the correct way? Then the Remove Shares transaction is equal to the Buy transaction. And the final amt is zero. Is there a difference between a remove shares transaction and a disposal transaction? (you said to delete the remove shares trans and edit the disposal trans to equal the Money calculated number of shares) Thanks for working on this with me, Richard "Chris Cowles" wrote: - quote - > "rmw" <rmw[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:3F95D5C0-42E8-4AA2-8B69-8479BB982202[at]microsoft.com... > > I made the remove shares number equal exactly the buy shares number. > > The > > account value is now zero and the Account Summary page reads: 'This > > account > > currently has no investments in it.' > > > Not sure if that's what you mean by this part? > Don't 'make' the remove shares number equal exactly the buy shares > number. Don't 'make' the remove shares number equal exactly the buy shares> The > account value is now zero and the Account Summary page reads: 'This > account > currently has no investments in it.' > Not sure if that's what you mean by this part? number. Adjust the total shares in account summary to zero, and let Money determine what the remove shares quantity should be. Under some circumstances, it might be infintesimally different from 0, but not 0. This may not apply to your situation. | I made the remove shares number equal exactly the buy shares number. The account value is now zero and the Account Summary page reads: 'This account currently has no investments in it.' If true, it won't show up. To determine if that's true, edit the final disposal transaction in each affected account to Qty 0. Copy the recorded qty to the memo to restore it later. Go to Account Summary, adjust the qty to 0, and look at the resulting remove shares transaction. Does the remove shares qty match the previous disposal qty exactly? If not, that's possibly a source of your problem. Delete the remove shares transaction and edit the disposal transaction to use the qty of the deleted remove shares. Check all accounts where you held that stock because that account might not be the only source of the problem. Please report back as to whether this helped. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL |

| I put in a Remove Shares and now when I view Account Summary under Review Your Portfolio it's not listed. But when I look at work with accounts: delete an account, open or close an account, it's there. I can delete the Remove Shares, but not the original Buy position. Just get the error message: This transaction cannot be entered. And when I try to delete the account from Account List just gives the error message: this operation cannot be performed. By bringing the account balance to zero it doesn't affect my reports but it's still there... frustrating. | This is normally caused by still owning a very small fraction of a share in some account. | Still get the same error message. I didn't try the Standard File Repair yet because it asks for more specific file info. Do you recommend this as the next best step? Or something other? | Version Money 2006 Deluxe I created these before I had read how to do it properly here on this forum. Now trying to correct... When I attempt to Delete them (Portfolio Manager-> 'common tasks'-> 'work with investments'-> 'delete an investment') They disappear from this list and show up as ‘Closed’ in Accounts list. And they still show up in Reports/Bond Performance. When I now try to delete them (Account List -> change account details -Delete an account) I get this error message: Details Product: Money ID: obres:34 Source: 15.0 Version: 15.0 Symbolic Name: errUnknown Message: This operation cannot be performed. Explanation Usually caused by a corrupt file. User Action Run the Money File Repair tool to fix the problem. So wondering now if I need to use the File Repair tool really, or more likely, I've overlooked something like an open position? |
