| I'm having the same problem. In my case, the error lies in the end of the ofx file. There is a repeated section that causes mismatched tags: </BANKTRANLIST<LEDGERBAL<BALAMT> xxxx.51 <DTASOF> 20030917120000 </LEDGERBAL</STMTRS</STMTTRNRS</BANKMSGSRSV1</BANKTRANLIST<LEDGERBAL<BALAMT> xxxx.51 <DTASOF> 20030917120000 </LEDGERBAL</STMTRS</STMTTRNRS</BANKMSGSRSV1</OFX If you delete the one of the repeats, everything works: </BANKTRANLIST<LEDGERBAL<BALAMT> xxxx.51 <DTASOF> 20030917120000 </LEDGERBAL</STMTRS</STMTTRNRS</BANKMSGSRSV1</OFX via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx(Cal Learner-- MVP) wrote in message news:<29hfmvgcam8nlmuou4ibgfjs2ms4ba77bt[at]4ax.com> ... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, MILTON wrote: > > When attempting to download my statement in Money 2004, I > > get the error message "The file you attempted to import > > appears to be invalid or contains corrupt data. First, the problem is most likely the data from your bank.> get the error message "The file you attempted to import > appears to be invalid or contains corrupt data. Contact > your bank." I contacted my bank (B of A). They said the > problem was with Microsoft Money. The download was working > fine until about 3 weeks ago. How do I fix the problem? You may or may not want to read further. It is possible to get the data your bank is sending. As you click to get internet updates and you get to the Connect button, hold down the Ctrl+Shift keys as you click Connect. The OFX files will be of the form *RS.txt. The point is that you could examine the files with at text editor to see if they indeed do contain transactions or not. The format may be somewhat obscure, but you still may be able to make some sense of it. Transactions are between these two tokens. <STMTTRN</STMTTRN You could make a COPY of your file, and open the copy. With a suitable text editor, edit a version of the *RS.txt file. I would take out transactions that date to the time the problem stared. Those will be the oldest. Dates are in the form yyyymmdd..... Save the modified file as perhaps test.ofx. Then in Money with your COPY, do File-> Import the test.ofx file. See if the error goes away. If so, look to one of the transactions you removed. If you don't get a reasonable looking OFX file you can try this from a command prompt: type "bank of america 2312313 RS.txt" > temp.ofx Then edit temp.ofx with Notepad or your favorite editor. |

| When attempting to download my statement in Money 2004, I get the error message "The file you attempted to import appears to be invalid or contains corrupt data. Contact your bank." I contacted my bank (B of A). They said the problem was with Microsoft Money. The download was working fine until about 3 weeks ago. How do I fix the problem? |
