| The problem that is described here is a serious problem. 1. I have a UMB HSA fund that goes back to 2002. This funds quote has always been updated manually. Since Monday, all the update history now says "online", and it no longer have the $1.00 par value. It has numbers like 4.05. It actually seem to be an interest rate as for 2002 we had values like 1.5 etc, while for 2007 we have values like 4.07. I am not sure why these values changed since I do not have this security setup for online updates. 2. I have a fidelity mutual func FTEXX that updates electronically. These values also reflect what I describe in (1). After scouring the Internet, this is real problem that is affecting many users. Please report to Microsoft. -- WCSC (Willies Computer Software Co) http://www.wcscnet.com "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > There was an update Friday evening that involved a quote server > change. The old backups had the erroneous quotes as well. And regarding "you should accept the fact", why don't you just chill, and worry about the problem and not coercing me into thinking what you want me to think. It doesn't really matter does it? We are all here to discuss what we see and think. |

Are you saying the quote access mechanism in Money goes back and re- updates prices for 9 months on my machine? I doubt that, especially since the quotes are actually contained in my own Money file (I confirmed this by making changes and going back to a backup file and the changes are not there). Maybe "this" problem just started, but "a" problem started in Dec. 2006. |

I have online quotes going all the way back to 2004.- Hide quoted text - Just to clear up any confusion - the "problem" just started. Subsequent quote updates may produce bad prices going back many years. However, this is not to suggest there can't be incorrect prices from updates or transaction entries prior to this "problem". | Cal, When I looked at the price history of my investments, all three of my MM funds (FPRXX, FIMXX, VMMXX) had some prices that were not 1.00 and I have not done an online update since 8/14. So I don't think that the problem started with the 8/17 change. Most of bogus values seem to appear quarterly and are values like 4.51 so they seem to be yields, as you noted. But I also had a 0.58 and a 1.024 so the problem may more complex than just grabbing the wrong data field once a quarter. Sure would be nice to get an acknowledgment from Microsoft that this is a problem and that it will be fixed. Makes me wonder about the price histories on my other investments. Meanwhile, I've removed the MM funds from the update list as you recommended and I continue to keep "Update Automatically" turned off. -- Bill Becker M2007 Windows XP Home SP2 "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > Correction: > I was wrong on the symptoms. | Correction: I was wrong on the symptoms. The problem affects MMFs whether they were created as MMFs or as Mutual Funds. The workaround I suggest is to blank the symbol in the Details for the fund and then delete any non-$1 prices from the list. You want to have at least one $1 entry dated from before you first held that fund. You could enter a new manual Update with a date from last century. Go to Investment-> Portfolio and right-click the fund. Choose SeeInvestmentDetails. There you can blank out the symbol. You can optionally add the symbol to the comments or rename the security to incorporate the symbol in the name. Then, from the Details, click PriceHistory-> UpdatedPrices-> UpdatedPricesManually. Delete all of the non-$1 prices. This should not be too difficult since the Delete button will autorepeat. If you have an older version of Money, the navigation may be a little different. This occurred during an update Friday evening that involved a quote supplier change. I have seen a positive effect, but there is a negative one that has popped up for some users. It appears that most MMFs with a public symbol are now downloading a bogus (not $1) price from the new quote server. If the 7-day annualized yield is 4.8%, the price is downloaded as $4.80. This results in inflated portfolio values. |

If you have an older version of Money, the names may be a little different. |

| There was an update Friday evening that involved a quote server change. I have seen a positive effect, but there is a negative one that has popped up for some user. It appears that at most MMFs with a public symbol that are set up as mutual funds, rather than Money Market Funds (MMF), in Money are now downloading a bogus (not $1) price from the new quote server. If the recent yield is 4.8%, the price is downloaded as $4.80. This results in inflated portfolio values. The easiest workaround is to blank the symbol in the Details for the fund and then delete any non-$1 prices from the list. Click Investment-> Portfolio-> UpdatePrices-> UpdatePricesManually to get there. See the later parts of the thread " Weird behavior in MSMoney 2007 Portfolio Manager" for discovery and discussion of the issue. If the MMF is set up as a MMF, then the problem does not seem to appear; the price is fixed at $1. To make the change from Mutual Fund to a Money Market fund is tedious and tricky if statements are downloaded. The upside is a bonus: MMF transactions are not put onto your schedule D (USA) when Money prepares your schedule D in conjunction with TaxCut or TurboTax. The tax is the same, but the schedule D is not filled up with a bunch of selling shares at $1 that you paid $1 for. Having Money fill in your schedule D is nice. |
