Tthanks again. Here is a long shot that will not hurt: Open a file that you can open, such as Sample.mny. Tools-> Settings-> ProgramSettings-> (Display StartMoneyWithThisPageOpen:AccountList. Then try your main .mny file once or twice to see if it opens. And in case your 3 month file is your only alternative, consider restoring that to a different name now, and doing online updates from your FIs now. That way there will be fewer transactions you will have to enter by hand because the FI may only present transactions that are a couple months old. It varies by FI. I expect you will review your backup policy including raising the number of backups that Money keeps from the default of 4 to maybe 50-- depending on disk space. Make your scheduled backup maybe every two weeks to a USB flash drive. - quote - > "Al V" wrote: > > I can't get any of my money files or backups to open. | Thank You. No I haven't tried running the repair from a command as you suggest. Crash is the same as described by "do not buy money 2008" posting. Will try disabling DEP, MS finally sent me some more suggestions that I will try. MS tech feels problem was caused by sharing the file on Windows Home Server, though I never got far enough to access it from other workstation, and did not have the problem until the online banking update. Tthanks again. "Al V" wrote: - quote - > I can't get any of my money files or backups to open. Money just starts to > open then says it has to close. First, use Help-> About to be sure that your version is 2007 version> open then says it has to close. This since their online banking update. > When it crashes it evidently changes the backups to a corrupted, the latest > backup I can open is over 3 months old. Why would Money have corrupted my files, > and why won't MS help with this? is 16.0.*.1303. Don't overwrite any good backups. Don't overwrite the *.mny file that you hope to repair. Make extra copies now. Use different filenames when you restore. Don't use the default name. What steps have you done already? Did you use salv.exe or File-> RepairMoneyFile-> StandardFileRepair level 2 to make what you hope will be a repaired version of your latest .mny file? If you have been guided thru all of this before, then there is probably no more help to offer. |

| I can't get any of my money files or backups to open. Money just starts to open then says it has to close. This since their online banking update. When it crashes it evidently changes the backups to a corrupted, the latest backup I can open is over 3 months old. Microsoft just says the files are corrupted and I have to start all over. I've tried to open the files on two Vista machines, and an XP machine. Why would Money have corrupted my files, and why won't MS help with this? |
