| The pop-up in 2005 linked me to buy 2008 Money Plus, which of course I can't from a Canadian address. It popped twice everytime I opened Money for about a month, now it's silent. | Thanks for the info Cal. My investments update okay and my banking downloads still work. Rather than upgrade to 2006 or 2008 I'll just continue with 2005 for now and see what MS Canada makes available. Its just irritating see the USA get 2007 and now 2008 and not have online download/purchase capability Norh of the border. Do you know if I'll get any warning about the cessation of these key functions or do they just shut it down? It seems strange that you cannot query MS Canada to find out what their strategy is. Is there anyone I can contact in MS Canada? I guess if they won't talk to you I don't stand much chance of getting information. It depends on your definitions. Multiple backups was introduced in> upgraded from 2004 I don't think that I found any substantial differences. If > I go to the trouble of getting a boxed version of 2008 Plus from a US > retailer will I find any really useful improvements? Money 2006, and correct handling of spinoffs appears to have been achieved in Plus. There are other differences, and like many features, different people are affected by different things. Insights are a boon to some and unused by others. DeleteAllBills is critical to some and unneeded by others. If downloads and quote fetching have expired for you, having those again is a big deal. If your downloads and quote fetching still work, the difference would not be big. Does your quote download still work? Having the differences be mostly supersets is good. It avoids the big learning curve. - quote - > I had many problems
I don't know what the position on that is for Canada. Whether they> loading 2005 onto my new Vista Home Premium PC and getting it functional but > it seems okay now. Will 2005 continue to be supported? will only support Money 2006, I don't know. The file formats for Canadian English and US Money are now unified. Searching on microsoft.ca does not offer insight as to why Money 2006 is the latest to be sold in Canada. It does seem like an odd situation. I have seen no explicit statement. The UK has stuck with Money 2005 for a while. They have issued statements of extending support for Money 2005 beyond the expiration times that are described in Help-> About. |

| I have used MS Money for many years and am currently on V. 2005 std. When I upgraded from 2004 I don't think that I found any substantial differences. If I go to the trouble of getting a boxed version of 2008 Plus from a US retailer will I find any really useful improvements? I had many problems loading 2005 onto my new Vista Home Premium PC and getting it functional but it seems okay now. Will 2005 continue to be supported? I was thinking of switching to Quicken but so many seem to be anxious to abandon it. Looks good. it in Canada. If you want to activate online, you will need a US address credit card. It works in Canada. I have no logical explanation. |

Excerpt below from Money Plus Help, searching on "Canada". I don't> Anything newer than Money 2006? Is there a trial download anyplace? > We really wish to stop using Quicken. think M08 (Money Plus) is much different that other recent versions, in this regard. I've seen other traffic to the effect that it does not support all differences in Canadian tax-protected accounts, etc. Search google groups on this newsgroup and relevant terms for answers. Download the trial at http://www.microsoft.com/money/freetrial_info.mspx. Nothing lost in trying. Your initial import from Quicken may not be satisfactory but you should be able to assess if it meets your general needs. ==================================== Change Money from U.S. to Canadian settings You can customize Money to use Canadian settings and to use the Canadian dollar as the base currency. ------------------------------------------------ Go to the Microsoft Money settings page. Click Program settings. Under Currency, click Update Currencies. Under Country/Region, click Canada, and then click Set as Base Currency. Click Yes, which closes Money. Canadian settings will take effect the next time you start Money. Important For the settings to take effect, you must have Windows Regional Options set to English (Canada). For more information on Regional Options, see Help. Note It is possible that Money will display some United States content (such as information on U.S. taxes) when the Canadian dollar is set as the base currency. If this happens, try changing the Country/Region setting to United States, and then back to Canada again. Follow the instructions above, but in step 4, click United States (instead of Canada). Then repeat the instructions above as written (in step 4, click Canada). You'll need to restart Money each time you go through these steps.
